Well, I tried doing a search for how to resize Synth1 but can't find anything. I assume you have to change some ini file or something.

Anyway, I'm fine with it the way it is.

As for the OP, something tells me he won't even be returning to the thread.

That did it. Why couldn't I find that anywhere? Isn't there documentation for this thing?

I think it is because it is so old, we really don't expect it to actually have such up to date features

There's a 100+ page unofficial manual out there somewhere, written by the synth's author. I'm on mobile right now or else I'd try to track it down.

Fortunately it's very easy to copy sounds you like into your own bank(s) with names that mean something to you.

I use Synth1 a lot and, although I do have the normal thousands of patches from the Internet and have over time auditioned most of them, the ones I actually use are all in a couple of banks of my own. Many of them are slightly tweaked versions because it's easier to find one that's close to what you want and tweak it rather than hoping someone has made exactly what you want and wasting a lot of time searching for something that might not exist.

Can't help with Toto sounds though. I spend much of my time trying hard NOT to sound exactly like anyone else.

No that's what happens when your post is poorly written so as to leave your meaning up to interpretation.

the online library, while a nice gesture, is unmanageable. That's part of the reason why I don't use the synth often......But yes, the synth sounds amazing.

Like I said earlier if you base your usage of a synth on it's patch management system instead of it's sound then I have true pity for you.
wagtunes wrote:It's not the most fun thing to program as the GUI isn't exactly a work of art. So it's rare I go to it.
Yet people have happily programmed those thousands of patches you are complaining about not being able to find. Perhaps you are simply not up to the task of patching Synth 1.
wagtunes wrote:buy one of the paid ones online. And yes, there are some excellent ones, including the one I listed above that has that Toto patch.
Anyone who tries to sell Synth 1 patches is a scumball and anyone who pays for Synth 1 patches is an idiot.
EDIT: I confused the Godly Bank with the Gold Banks. My apologies for that.

The guy who created the bank you mentioned stole several of it's patches from other people including myself. He didn't even have the common sense to change the names of my patches. He remains one of the most reprehensible creatures ever to crawl through KVR.

Look, I know newbies like yourself aren't aware of the history of Synth 1 but you have to realize when it was first released it was a quantum leap ahead in terms of sound quality vs cpu demand. It remains some of the tightest code ever written for a VSTi. I first ran it on a Duron 850 then on to a Pentium 4 and Synth1 remains installed today even on my i7. Then factor in the mysterious Ichiro Toda who if he wanted could have been one of the most successful developers in the business but yet remains an enigma.

Some people don't like Synth 1's sound and that's fine but it's hard not to respect the history of Synth 1 and it's creator.

Synth 1 remains to this day one of the finest freeware synths ever released despite people who find it necessary to complain about every little thing in a synth instead of appreciating it for what it can do. That Patch Browser you're bitching about was quite revolutionary for the time. The GUI you complain about was one of the first if not the first resizable GUI with custom color options.

So when you complain about a charter member of the freeware hall of fame you just make yourself look like a whiny little bitch and it reeks of entitlement. But such is the climate at KVR these days.....

Do NOT pay for Synth 1 patches. See my post above.

No one should ever charge for patches for a freeware synth. If the developer has never made a penny off of their creation and gift to the community then neither should patch hackers. Trying to sell patches for a freeware synth is one of the most douchy things anyone can do here and no that is not up for debate.

Those patches are available free if you look.

You didn't think to click the OPT button...just to see what was there ? I'm starting to understand the problem here.....

My friend, I see a lot of problems here.

But I won't get into them.

Have a nice day.

Which is more than you've ever wished me.
