Yeah, that is a nice dream... unfortunately, it's a pretty mean place.

There are a ton of really nice people on this forum. There are a few people who post like 100 times a day who come off as assholes I guess. But I really believe the majority of people on here are good people. Heck, my guess is these "mean" people in real life are probably pretty good people too but come off as jerks on here.

To be fair, it's a popularity contest, with everyone who has the link (not just MR' 'readers') being able to vote. And part of FL's popularity is due to it being heavilly pirated. I'm not sure I know any legit user.
Now wait a minute, you are NOT SURE if you do actually know any legit user of FL?

In your case, I suppose that's an understatement. 8)
I meant that of the FL users I know, many openly say they use pirated copy, some implied they do but I've not asked everyone, because that's not my business. Hence I'm not sure if I know any legit user. I might :)

Also, I'm not sure what you're implying with "in your case"? Or is it just a figure of speech?
Well, it seems YOU do not know any legitimate FL users. That's all info I got from you. Which I find understandable. According to the way that you come to your *impressions* of the FL user base.

It's kinda simple actually.

Probably because they borrowed the brain of ableton's developer who sculpt the finished product from design and concept, and rode well-martketed bandwagon ?
Have you even used Bitwig? The fact it has Clip Launcher and Arranger - like Live, but better - isn't its defining thing. The workflow, flexibility and modulation are.

Also, there's no shame in using good ideas, especially if you improve on them, which Bitwig did.
I don't express my opinion about it but I know there are people who don't respect it. I'm not merely talking about idea or design that is just an phase of process to materialize.

On second thoughts, perhaps there's been a typo.
Well, Bitwig was already in one of the best DAW polls back in 2012, and actually got some votes too. Yet the first Bitwig Studio version was not released until 2014. So apparently this DAW can even time travel to entice the users.

I guess this all really means...

A very innovative product with attractive packaging and a very attractive interface. Not sure what DAW of the year actually means though. I certainly wouldn't rate it the best for a lot of uses, and I think the interface on 2.x took a large step backwards in terms of efficiency, but if you like playing with synths and fx, it's quite fun.

Good on them, something different.

Hate their faux subscription thing, but well deserved.

For anyone confused about the 2015 reference, issue #215 of Computer Music was some time ago. The current issue is #251.

I don't know if it was a person or a panel that gave the DAW of the Year award (I can look it up if anyone is interested), but I put more stock in user reviews over professional ones. For all I know, Bitwig is also Computer Music magazine's advertiser of the year, if you catch my drift. Of course, I have no reason to believe there is bias, just as I have no reason to disbelieve the votes for FL Studio.

Regarding Image Line/FL Studio, someone must be buying something because they've been in business a long time and they seem to be doing quite well.

BTW, I think I'm one of the nice guys (aww, look, a kitty kat), so please tell me if I'm not. :hihi:

Wait, there are still people who believe media's coverage of company donating/paying money for them? I thought they are gone at the time of the collapse of media through last US president election.

It is the new time delay device... when you set it to negative values, you can peek into the future! :ud:

Politics is one way to derail a thread. :?

But I can see from your signature that we have different world views.

That's not my post though, just in case.

What is CM anyway?

Cookie Monster says Bigwig is awesome.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

In the first post is the answer you seek.

Thanks. My next guess would have been Cat Mittens.
