I don't even think I could make Patreon work for me; I would have to make videos where I talk about shit. Go into a lot of stuff, talk about theory, talk about sound design (and then really spam the world), where *I* don't even want to hear me talk, so I don't really find it worth pursuing on speculation.

That's a shame, you're much more knowledgeable about theory than 99% of the successful music theory streamers.

im not sure what id bring to a music theory show though, other than "if this guy gets it, surely you can too?"

Theory on YT... I found one character, a young kid, with over a hundred thousand subscribers and he knows basically squat. And they all think it's brilliant.

I think the key here is not being self-conscious.
Also, to come up with a basic topic, like I know more than the audience... and just prattle on. pheh
my real interests are probably 'esoteric' anyway.

I did an experiment once with one of my Satie adaptations: I spammed other Satie posts with it in the comments. It got probably 10x more views than it would have.
