Defiant WT Waveform Synthesis Pack 2 Wavetable Synthesis Pack One

O.k., got it now, it seems I wanted the old banks, I dont understand that they have been replaced by the new categorized preset system, so these are all integrated into it, right ?

Any hint on where the exe that come with the dlc presets is installed and what about the noise most presets are making that makes my daw to turn of the plug (and kills my ears :-) ) ?

Post

the exe is placed in:
\AppData\Roaming\Ocean Swift\Defiant WT\Presets\- DLC -

presets not loading correctly should not be, not sure about the issue you are describing there, again just to clarify, we are talking about loading v2 presets into v2 yes? what you describe would for sure happen if you load v1 presets into v2

Post

Thanks for the info with the exe, will surely try this out when I am back from work :-)

Yes, it just happens when I loaded defiant as vst and try to change the preset while the daw is running. I thought that might be the problem so I only changed presets while daw is not running but same thing happened. I try to open a new preset from the browser, an infernal noise burst is happening, all displays turn red and go straight to the right end and the daw is turning of defiant 2 cause of this.

That dont happen with all presets but with MOST of them. For example in the new dlc presets I tried the melodic supfolder and get this with nearly any preset. I am just feeding in a midi track with a little melody, so no chords or whatever heavy things.

After first experience nearly bursting my ears volume is turned far down but that dont help really.

Post

Really unsure why this happens for you. We can try to reproduce your setup, what daw are you on?

Post

Win 7 64 bit, I have only tried this now with Mixcraft 8 Pro which is the DAW I am using most actually. But when I am back home from work I can try it with Mulab for example. But I remember that I had some problems in this direction while testing the beta or using the Defiant 1 but I have not used it often so I am not sure about this. The thing that really caught my eye actually was this preset generating thing. I would assume that it happens while trying to load these presets but of course I dont know what happens.

Just re-tested one more time on a couple of pc setups just to be sure, everything seems to work fine on our end. Could you later when you are on your DAW check again just to make sure?

The algorithmic presets are clever but in the end nothing really "funky" they load just like the rest. Of course that they are not guaranteed to all be good ones, but the way they are created tries to ensure they are all useable by setting various flags and ranges for the parameters.

Post

Yes, will test it on another daw when I am back at home from work and make a screen to show whats happening in Mixcraft.

Awesome, thanks! Also regardless been seeing a bunch of our costumers saying they use Mixcraft recently, we got in touch with them just now regarding getting a copy from them for testing.

I installed this yesterday (also picked up the algo pack, thanks for the info on where the files are stored). Plugin works fine in "bandlab" Sonar, also seems fine in Reaper.

In Waveform 10 the controls seem to be displaced against the background of the plugin display (this seems to be a problem with many different plugins in Waveform, though). Changing the plugin display size seems to fix this temporarily.

The plugin validates fine in MuLab, but crashes the program when I try to load the plugin into a track. I'm not sure how to get useful diagnostic data on the crash out of it, though.

Sorry for delay with testing on Mulab but I am afraid I wont have time before weekend, lots of family stuff at the moment....

ztrauq: I remember problems with the beta and mulab but did not remember exactly what was the problem, the noise burst on nearly all presets loaded like now on mixcraft 8 or something else. Will report my experience as soon as I got time for testing.

Post

Thanks guys,

Just got Mixcraft and MuLab NFRs thanks to the kindness of these companies in supporting developers, must admit that with so many DAWs out there those are two we missed.

We will test on our end with these two as well, and if we find the same issues with the specific DAWs we will send bug reports to the DAW developers as well.

@ztrauq - what is your impression of the algo presets?

Post

Just checked on Mixcraft 8.1 , seems to work well here, presets loading and changing correctly. Let me know if you can still reproduce the problem

Thanks for the update :)

I had a quick test in Mulab, same problem then with mixcraft, and I am nearly sure that was already with the beta: as soon as I click on the preset browser below a bursting noise, all levelmeters in the red area and sound just killed.

When it works fine for you with Mixcraft I think it must be something specific with my system (win 7, 64 bit) maybe with the sounddrivers ? I use ASIO with different drivers, have an old soundblaster audio card but all other plugs and daw run fine and I have never had that kind of problem with any other VST
