OK it's a n00b question but it's pretty clear the OP is just looking for opinions on some compressors they might be interested in buying or others they haven't considered yet. It's not total nonsense.poshook wrote: Mon Feb 04, 2019 9:08 pm Best compressor plugin does not exist. Spend your time more effectively and learn how to use different compressors instead of making such a non-sense thread on kvraudio

Fabfilter Pro-C2 hands down. Just putting it on a track with the default setting already sounds great.

3 things:
1. My gramma says Bruce is off his meds
2. MJ's Thriller is not "uncompressed" by any stretch of the imagination
3. I think his point was that people are overdoing it a lot
So, I think his theme is: over-compression is for dummies.

Loudmax - free, transparent.
D16 Frontier - free, adds loads of character in a good way when used lightly on master (not good at catching peaks.) This lives in my drum kit.
Toneboosters Barricade 4 - almost free
This compressor is great. Has compressor and limiter next to each other, along with a loudness meter and different saturation models. Great visual feedback and UI.

The thing about neutron compressor that I don't love is that the sliders and resolution of meters is too small.

DC8C can do FF ProC2 and more at fraction of cost. I just bought it and will buy MJUC too

A lot of comps have their own good qualities, and have their share of flaws too. CL1B mk2 is pretty high on my "when it works, it works very well" list, but it has no THD/harmonic color, whilst TLA100A has good THD.
I think it's impossible to say what's best single compressor, but if you don't know what you need, it might be worth looking at a compressor that has ton of features to play around with. For this, maybe the Klanghelm DC8C3 or U-he Presswerk might be good.

There's no such thing as a a best compressor for any genre. Why do so many noobs today believe that myth?MasterTuner wrote: Sun Feb 03, 2019 3:12 pm Someone said that Klanghelm DC8C (or MJUC) is an amazing compressor for the price. Pro-C is supposed to be the most transparent.
How do they compare to the ones in Neutron Elements and Ozone8?
Whats the best compressor in your opinion for EDM ?
