Nothing. Violence sucks. Read a while ago in the HPC forum (every now and then i take a peek into that sh**hole) that someone (won't mention names, someone who posts frequently here) wanted to drive a car into a group of people which were bigots to him. Made me wanna puke my lunch out, to be honest. Whoever has to resort to violence to solve his personal issues should go see a psychologist IMO.

If we return to this https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a ... 4918301053 if you read it you'll see (1) what causes OCD, (2) why current treatments are not very successful (3) in what way that situation likely to change within 5-10 years. While that will not help anybody immediately, perhaps it will be relaxing to see that some people have a clue and they don't intend to just prescribe another box of prozac to you.

Very glad I came across this thread. Used to be at the point where I could only set things to certain values, which really limited the use of certain plugins. For example, I could only ever set the pitch wobble to 50% because none of the others were satisfying & I had to type in all of the volume faders. Still, I managed to make some okay beats during this time.
Now, I can set things to any value really but I’m still not at a good enough place. I deliberate almost everything I do. Something that really grinds my gears is I’ll be turning a knob & as I let go I’ll ever so slightly accidentally change the value & even though this change will have absolutely no perceptible impact, I will still be annoyed.
You know how knobs don’t move completely fluidly, like if you turn one slowly enough you can see it kind of ticking along? Well, unfortunately I’m not able to adjust knobs quickly & fluidly & have to make sure I know what tick I’m setting it to, like the grievance of mine I mentioned above.
Anyway, writing that was out mentally toiling & I’m not really sure if it was worth it but we’ll see tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who’s contributed to this thread & let me know if anything I said sounds familiar.

Lowish OCD here, used to be much worse. Years of meditation (even though I'm not particularly good at it) and other spiritual practices helped me realize that it's just another manifestation of mind chatter that can be labeled, observed, and treated with self-compassion as one signal among many.
Along the way I've become probably one of the best counters of letters in words, words in sentences, and adders of all digits in numbers to know what single integer they sum up to, that the world has ever seen! Am I hired?
One thing I've noticed (from my germophobe teenage years) is that large doses of Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) made it considerably worse. Never seen this in the literature I occasionally have looked up, maybe there's a PhD or clue to the underlying mechanism(s) in there. For those struggling with OCD please consult qualified mental health practitioners, also I have found the Wrong Planet forum helpful - it's focused on those on the Autism Spectrum, but a great place for those who suffer from any mental disorder and want to take an active role in dealing with it.
In regards to music production, it hasn't hindered me, and obsessive focus can make the difference between completing something and having it languish in limbo forever...
