It depends which piano model you play, but I think their concert pianos sound really good. Not perfect, but they have the advantage over sampled pianos that each note resonates accurately based on other notes being played or sustained at the same time.

I didn't buy it a few years back as I thought there were better sampled pianos on the market, but I think the last version made some improvements that give me something much nearer to a real piano.

I have Pianoteq 6 Stage. I'm by no means an expert but the Steinway D in PTv6 sounds as good as the two real Steinways I have played. I don't have any of the other grands but a lot of people seem very pleased with them, esp. the new Bechstein. I suspect they've now reached a point of parity with sample-based instruments and from here it's about the character.

For example their U4 modelled Yamaha upright seems a pretty good emulation of the Yamaha uprights I've played which from my perspective is not a good thing. I'll keep hold of my Imperfect Samples Braunschweig upright. I'm told with PT Standard or Pro I might be able to bend the U4 to my will but it's a pretty expensive experiment. That's an aside though.

For me Noire has a certain character (and that Particle engine) that I want very much.

I was tempted to buy NOIRE. I like the tone, I think it fits perfectly in many genres especially modern style but I already have lots of NI pianos and the one that I mostly use is the Grandeur.
I didn't try this NOIRE, I don't know, probably I will buy it one day even if in general I'm not in need of pianos.

For me now my perfect piano is the GRANDEUR and Alicia Keys.

What I like from the Grandeur is the you can get the "same" dark sound of NOIRE ( at least what I heard from the demo ) but also a rich and clear tone especially when you hit hard on your keys and that is what I really love from it. It's a matter of taste of course but simply I love its tone when you hit hard plus what I love from it is that more you press and more it gives. When I tried other pianos I had always that typical feeling of playing a sample library with its limit in velocity range. Not with GRANDEUR, of course, it is a sample library, it has velocity limits but it is so dynamic that sometimes I feel like I'm playing a real piano.
Another thing ( for me ) makes a great sample library is how the samples are mapped on velocity.
I should admit that I feel great playing with the Grandeur even if I prefer to play ( in terms of feeling, how it is mapped ) the Alicia Keys. It is soooo perfect on my fingers.

Hope to get the NOIRE on some Black friday.

I honestly don't like Grandeur all that much. I got it awhile ago because it was one of the better ones I'd heard at the time. Noire sounds amazing though. Same with Una Corda. I was gonna pick up Una Corda since it's on sale but I almost just want to go for this. I don't knowwwwww

As I said, it's a matter of taste, for example I don't like UNA CORDA.

I think it sounds great! I wish I could buy it right now. However, because I always upgrade Komplete, it makes more sense to wait a year and a half until the next update. It’s always so convenient that they time these releases for shortly after a new Komplete update cycle...

Wow, just heard this and think it sounds amazing.

Seems like it would be great for film composers.

I like (and own) both. ;) Una Corda is fantastic but its also not a general purpose instrument like Grandeur is.
