...
As for synth sounds, there's DIVA and Monark etc
Trilian - still awesome? also for synth basses?

Hmm. Don't like the word "outdated" huh? What can we do about that? Well, let's substitute another word, ok? You can pick whatever word makes you happy.neverenoughfunk wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 12:58 pmjust curious... how are SOUNDS outdated? especially when trillian is multi timbre... NOW!!! if you are using preset than that is understandable... but try layering/experimenting with the patches and see what you come up with... but SOUNDS being outdated SOUNDS crazy... especially bass patches...Aloysius wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 10:14 am+1datroof wrote: Tue Apr 30, 2019 5:57 pm Personally, I think most of the Trillian sounds are outdated - Trillian is getting pretty old and there are better alternatives available. The main exception is the acoustic bass selection. Nothing earth shattering, but they always seem to sit very nicely in a mix.
Meanwhile ... the op asked for opinions. Yes, I'm afraid opinions are subjective - the two go hand-in-hand. I gave my opinion. You are entitled to your opinion. Yes. But, I'm also entitled to my opinion. That's how it works. As I said earlier in the thread, I've had Trillian since the beginning. I've gone through it auditioning sounds many many many times. I'm not interested in pissing contests, but I assure you I know what's in there. I don't like most of it. Forget the word "outdated" if it bothers you, ok? Today's word is "adult". Look it up, it's catching on.

Your behaviour would be understandable if you were offended and angry and "acting out". That would explain a lot. But you say you "don't get offended". That's awesome. But it removes the "understandable" part. Now you just seem like an immature jerk.Kinh wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 6:48 amI dont get offended , I just dont want others to lose interest in a product based on inaccurate info. Nothing personal, it's just that I spend a bit more time using these products than most do + I'm very familiar with music trends and nothing is subjective, it either fits into one category or another.datroof wrote: Thu May 02, 2019 3:23 pmI seem to have touched a sore spot - sorry to have offended you. Take the time to listen to current music before you label it outdated, Trilian synth bass sounds are everywhere on the charts and even bass music in festival scene are slowly shifting away from generic oscillators towards synthy sounds.datroof wrote: Tue Apr 30, 2019 5:57 pm Personally, I think most of the Trillian sounds are outdated - Trillian is getting pretty old and there are better alternatives available. Also the acoustic bass section isn't the exception (the electric basses are better) and there aren't better alternatives out there especially in terms of processing.

For upright acoustic bass it's in a category of it's own even today.

you sound VERY defensive there... i started my post with "JUST CURIOUS"... and you are talking about being an "ADULT"... i own Trilogy before Trillian... i just dont understand how one knows if the basses in Trillian will not do the job with a song that has not been written yet... in my opinion (since we all have one) we never know what sounds are going to be in OUR next song unless all YOUR songs sound the same... RIGHT?datroof wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 3:22 pmHmm. Don't like the word "outdated" huh? What can we do about that? Well, let's substitute another word, ok? p.s. i own Komplete Ultimate Collection which has basses too... SOMETIMES those basses fit the build of the song... SOMETIMES Trillian fits the build... but to predetermine if a SOUND fits a song not written is pretty stupid... i.e. closed minded (in my opinion, since WE all have one)...

You can have your own opinions, but not your own facts. Well, that used to be true anyway, I appreciate we've crossed some kind of Trumpian rubicon now.
ANYWAY. re the whole "dated" thing, It totally depends on what you're looking for. Trilian was never one for the EDM stuff particularly. When it comes to analogue, it's true that it doesn't have the super-precise modelling of something like a Repro-1 or that specific character. But it's got tons of great stuff that is very useful to have alongside the terrific electric and acoustic basses. And as I said earlier, while I really admire MODO I don't find it works for me in the mix in the same way that Trilian does. It's still a great package, and indeed best seen as a package. Makes little sense to buy it ONLY for synth basses.

If I needed that sort of classic greasy fretless, Trilian would be it. For a really oppressive Sub bass for you kids who keep soiling my lawn. A couple of things.
As a synthesizer, well... the filters are kind of laggy. I'm not into samples of synths, a lot of it is pretty dull to my ear.

I think these demonstration vids do a good job of showing that Trilian has a nice character of it's own in the synth patches:

There are a couple of sound libraries - Raptor by Unfinished, Bass Box by Plug-in Guru that add a bit to the library. Ask Charlie Puth how he thinks of Trilian and the annuities for life he's getting from "Attention."

Joe Dolce sold a lot of records of 'Shaddap You Face' and he didn't use Trilian.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Yet the design of the filters at least in Monark is from a state-of-the-art which is easily beyond Spectrasonics design from then.

Trilian fans, talk is cheap. Show us some examples that demonstrate the awesomeness. Or, stfu. Thanks in advance.
