Thanks a lot for the reply. Yep that's where I posted already. I'll give it a week to see if they reply. I'm also in touch with the local NI distributor in Australia but he also hasn't gotten back to me.

Either way, Maschine MK3 didn't get promised Ableton integration and these news don't make it any more likely

Maschine Micro MK3 doesn't even offer transport control, in a DAW....basically useless unless standalone as hardware. Pretty much every NI forum is full of 'when with this be fixed', Komplete 6 was at best a disappointment for a paid major release, Massive X a shambles - Just Reactor realy thats as it should be for me! NI definitely have some issues - money injection- lots of new staff - growing pains....

OK. I can only say that they got back to me pretty quickly when i had questions about software, or license transfer requests.

Worse than that, albeit somewhat understandable, was how they removed all sample start/length/end editing from the hardware. That wasn't just a casualty of them removing the screen from the MK3 version, but they actually removed the functionality when using it with a computer. Samples now have to be edited by mouse.

Like I say, I do understand (I'm sure it was cannibalising sales from the bigger units). However, being able to slice and edit samples from hardware was the biggest draw, for me. Still, guess it saved me the money

I consider this the typical dissing of "big" companies (big in this case meaning a typical low to mid tier company).

Massive -> Massive X - over 10 years to develop and it flops (even ifs really good synth with big potential)

Absynth - no proper updates for over a decade

FM8 - no proper updates for over a decade

Kontakt - market standard, but for how long? Still no innovative updates, hard to master, etc etc.

NKS/Maschine is/are really good and whole line with those keyboard and hw is nice move. So, its not that they dont do anything right. I wonder what happened if they really fired 100-200 people, really weird.

MX wasn't in development for 10 years.

Absynth had a steady stream of updates less than 10 years ago, so did FM8.

It seems that the fierce competition in the audio software technology market and the flood of plugins every single day forces many companies to such disastrous behaviour and abandonment of their own product range.
Think of all the excellent tools like Breaktweaker, Iris2, Absynth etc. which will never get any updates again.
Only a handful of companies still show how to run a healthy and successful business by just offering a small range of products but keeping them always up to date, offering the highest possible quality at the same time. Spectrasonics, u-he

If you do a simple search it appears there is something going on at Native Instruments whether you're a hater, a fanboi, or just a casual observer.

I don't think anyone wants NI to go under and certainly no one wants any worker to lose their job.

Companies usually implode from the top and the lack of talented leadership is a pandemic in the business world.

If all the information I'm getting is correct the world is in for some dark financial times so no telling what the future holds. If companies like NI are having hard times it may not bode well for smaller developers so it's good to keep your eye on the news and to remove emotion from the equation.
