adl wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2019 6:42 am Anybody want to compared this to Wow Control by goodhertz? I personally use RC 20 and Wow Control in combination, sometimes even with a bit of izotope vinyl but this plugin looks great and the (intro) price is pretty good. Guess I have to demo myself, just was wondering if anybody compared those two already.
My opinion: Wow Control is not as "sophisticated" as Cassette - Cassette has more control over artifacts. Wow Control has a darker sound. Tough to qualify... Cassette is closer to real cassette and the artifacts of of the tape signal path. Wow Control is a motion effect based on the spirit of tape. Does that help?
Thanks for your opinion about both. That actually helps in a way, because I am not sure if I need the "real" cassette sound or if the "spirit of tape" does all I need. :hihi:
What I mean is: I never really missed "tape" sound in particular, I just like to treat melodies with some vintage flavor, but I don't really care if it's tape or vinyl as long as I can get some wobbling and degrading. RC 20 is great for that but I felt that Wow Control brings some further stuff to the table, that's why I got that as well.

If you have Wow and you have a spare 29€ and to widen your lofi palette with a tool that is unique then Cassette would be a good addition. It has a demo. Thats your best bet.

How does this compare the Aberrant DSP’s s sketchcassette? Very similar (not gui)?

Very similar yeah, different sound and GUI, Wavesfactory has more control over the FX. See my Clyp above for one comparison, though both have demos so it's best to test yourself.

I don't use TB Reelbus 4, but on TB Reelbus 3 there's a character emulation dropdown and it goes from pristine pro gear to one called "old and rusty", in which things fall apart immediately. I don't know enough about tape machines to comment on the quality of the emulation of the 10 models, but if you want to mangle you can mangle hard, all the way to near unrecognizable.

EDIT: I had to go look at Reelbus 4. The rough model there is called "Ferox 3", also falls apart quickly. So then I had to go load TB Ferox 3 to see if it sounds like the model named after it in Reelbus. Sort of, very easy to mangle with drive but the other knobs seem more versatile on Reelbus.

To me, it feels like having Satin (U-He) but with cassette tapes :tu: :tu:

Tried it. Like it. Pitted it against my favourite degradation suite. Didn't buy it.

In the name of all that is Holy why would you want your Audio to sound like it was recorded on Cassette Tape ?

Oh well to each his own I suppose.....

What's the Spectre tube glitch? I haven't noticed anything obvious.

delete sorry.

Oh, the first tape plugin I've tried that can be pushed pretty much as lo-fi as I'd like and then some. :D And without sounding as someone mentioned too consistently LFO modulated. :tu: Surprisingly much flexibility and sweet introduction price, purchased! 8)

Changing to the tube saturation type causes an audible click. The click can also be heard when starting host playback (with tube type selected). All other saturation types are fine. Bug was confirmed by devs when I reported it.

Been hoping for a fix for a while, tho it seems they have been busy lately with Cassette - which I can't really complain about, it's a great plugin : )

I guess if you're into lo-fi, grunge, glitch, BoC, type stuff then it would be right up your alley. If pristine audio is your thing, probably not so much.

In the intro video, Dan goes into some detail on different use cases (other than flat out full-mix cassetteness), tho they are all on the lo-fi side of things (naturally).
