On my 6-core Core i7 it shows around 4% for a three note chord and 14% for a big FM pad with 8 voice unison.
How good it is for basses (before processing). (Sure I can make a bass sound even with a single OSC, but still...)
Not that great, mostly because of the lack of resonance in the filter. It will do certain styles of bass sounds but not those big basses with lots of resonance pumping the bottom end. But I have bx_oberhausen for that stuff so it doesn't bother me. I do like its notch filter, though, which can do some nice open basslines, if you're into that sort of thing.

Does anybody know how long it will be on sale?

Alas no, and you sadly missed out on the BF sale which was even half off the sale price.
This (and Quanta) were definitely in the top synths I both this year....It doesn't do a lot of stuff, but what it does it does brilliantly to me.... (dark stuff).

Don't want to buy it now. Still thinking about this and HY-Poly... /maybe Hive2, but.../ (or something similar if someone recommend me).

BTW: I never had a problem to buy anything for full price.

It's a nice synth , but I really disliked the filter behavioiur and weak resonance
yup any synth is worth buying if you like it enough after trying it out.
KLC M1, a few Linplug synths and one or 2 others made me pull the trigger.

When you say "on sale", what price do you mean? It's been at it's "launch discount" price of $79 forever, so that should be the most you'll have to pay.

Of the three, I'd definitely go with HY-Poly, unless you like lots of presets, in which case you can't beat Hive. Neither Continua nor HY-Poly have more than a basic set of patches.

Aaah, so 79$ is full price... I thought that it's more expensive. Price in PB is little bit higher. No problem...

I'm not 100% sure if I really need a new synth, I just have some money to spend from Santa.

I'm already using U-he freeware/magware, Dune(1) and Thorn (not PA). Just looking for a new toy, maybe because I miss a modulation visualization in Thorn (which is great). Not definitelly looking for VST with hundreds of presets. My preference is easy to use plugin with maximum possibilities (FM, RM, Noise OSC, S&H LFO)/low on CPU/visual modulations/resizable UI.

In that case, I'd definitely recommend HY-Poly. It's a great synth with a lot of potential.

On sale so just bought it - this is a lot deeper than I expected and now has additive and something called IXA which looks FMy. It has one of the best implementations of preset genetics I have seen outside of the Clavia G2 Modular.

Agree on the genetics, have gotten some nice results (me not being a sound designer, it's a good crutch to start out with and tweak)

I've been meaning to have a look since the update was released a few weeks ago but I hadn't gotten around to it until just now. It's a big update! I've always liked the tone of Continua but found it a bit limited. The new features go some way towards expanding its abilities but it is still being let down by the filters, which is a shame. They are serviceable enough but they lack character. You can get some seriously big sounds from it, especially now with the SuperSaw and SuperSquare oscillators, but I don't think it's ever going to be anybody's go-to synth.

I've always loved the GUI, all the little graphical indicators of what's going on, and the modulation system is great. My only other gripe is with Unison, which only works in Mono or Retrig modes and you can't set the detune or spread. If it worked in Poly mode, the "Voices" control could set the number of Unison voices so you could have 2 notes of 8 voices or 4 notes of 4 voices, which could be very handy. But that's pretty minor in the scheme of things and the SuperSaw can be detuned so there is at least a workaround in v1.2. Overall, though, it's a really good synth I will definitely be making a point of using it more now that I've seen how much they've added.

Yes I agree the filters could be better, and they don't seem to be able to self oscillate.

Also I wish the macros were on the main page rather than the FX page, and more of the presets actually used them.

So some things to improve but I'm very pleased with it apart from those things.

I've never understood the value of a self-oscillating filter, especially if your synth has a sine wave oscillator option. I always thought it was one of those useless things people used to justify their bias towards analogue hardware that actually had little or no value in the real world. When/how do you use it?
