It was actually a tie for me between Largo and Massive X here... I guess I could live with both as a desert island synth. :) Actually tend to MX as of late.
It's ok, smuggle both. I just did
Weapons of choice (subject to change):
Godin Redline, Kuassa, Fuse Audio, Audiority, Roland A-500pro, Dune, Dagger, TAL, Reaper for Rock & Synthwave pleasures; Viper and FL Studio for guilty EDM pleasures

Hope both fit into my hand baggage. :)

Good thing their wavetables are in a closed package otherwise they would be falling out of your bag, like it always happens with Serum.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Largo is a nice synth. I like it but I like both the original Massive and the X version more. They are incredibly powerful the more you get deeper. I can do more with Massive/X than Largo/Blofeld.

Another deserted island synths are FM8, Absynth and Bazille (of course Reaktor also, but that is cheating!).
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Would atm. probably take Omnisphere 2.6+ as it does so much on its own.
Was surprised there are actual drumkits for it too.
Soft Knees - Live 12, Diva, Omnisphere, Slate Digital VSX, TDR, Kush Audio, U-He, PA, Valhalla, Fuse, Pulsar AUDIO, NI, OekSound etc. on Win11Pro R7950X & RME AiO Pro

I own Massive X and I was deciding whether to take that instead of synth1 but the latter won because Massive X sounds always have this "sameness" about them.

That hollow - industrial - metallic flavor.

Some of the latest presets have been demonstrating what it can do, and they show promise, but there is always this feeling that its limited in some way by its synthesis method, and when I am on the island I would want a synth that can do everything reasonably well.

The topic is interesting, cause it's about if ONLY ONE synth could b taken, which one will be enough for you,not which is better or best :)
Same question about women - which one will prefer on iceland with no other choice : most beatiful, most amusing or most skillful :):):)

It's a very very tough call between Zebra, Falcon, Reaktor and Surge over here...

"A handbag"

Aha.... Being earnest again chooky ;)

I forgot in my first post..
This is a fully equipped deserted island I assume... electric, running fresh water, internet connection, ample food and beer supply.and SCUBA gear with compressor (I'll also need all my underwater photo gear) and every few weeks a fly in G/F but just for the week end>> no longer ;). If so I'll play.

My Eurorack with a good PA system.
