That is - despite of her cute nose - so fantastic about her.
But anyway ... Top of the Pops will always be Jacko. And the Commodores Nichtshift. And maybe Depeche from time to time

Can you explain what's special about it? No bad intention with this question, real interest to understand. It's just that I can't understand why everybody seems to see something special in this music and gave awards to them. I don't see anything interesting or new in this music even when I put personal taste aside. I want to get this phenomenon. Or is it mainly about personality?thecontrolcentre wrote: Tue Feb 16, 2021 11:51 pm Been listening to Billie Eilish - "Where do we go when we sleep" if that's pop music.

I think after 20 years of pop singers that sounded like contestants on American Idol, people were ready to jump on the first person with a hit that didn't sound like that.midi_transmission wrote: Sat Mar 06, 2021 10:41 pmCan you explain what's special about it? Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

Got a lot of radio play in the '80s...
(Saw RomeoVoid as a warm up band to The Tubes one year. Funny thing was the majority of the audience was there to see them and left after. So the 200 seat audience turned into less than 70(?) people to see the better band.)

Other favs of the '80s...
(That I still listen to today.)
And something more current that sticks in my head often...
This is the Snarky Puppy/Vassen version. Unfortunately, her version seems to suffer from the worst mastering I've heard for a studio recording. But Becca Stevens is great IMO.

All my songs in the opening post are from the last 20 years and sound nothing like contestants on American idol. (i think, because i've never seen American Idol, i do0n't live in America, but i guess i have an intuitive idea what contestants on American Idol sound like).midi_transmission wrote: Tue Mar 09, 2021 5:03 pmPossiblemumpcake wrote: Tue Mar 09, 2021 12:50 amI think after 20 years of pop singers that sounded like contestants on American Idol, people were ready to jump on the first person with a hit that didn't sound like that.midi_transmission wrote: Sat Mar 06, 2021 10:41 pmCan you explain what's special about it? My guess is: Mariah Carey. They all sound like mimicking Mariah Carey.

Production on this is insanely good.
Tambu and Mindfields are best sounding Toto records IMO. Toto IV is great too. Too bad Toto XIV was disaster mastering wise.

I have nothing to do with BÖC, just a huge fan who couldn't find a better name at the time of registering.

Your song reminded me of this song (Tears For Fears):BlueOysterCult wrote: Wed Mar 10, 2021 2:41 am Production on this is insanely good.

and your words ("Production on this is insanely good.") reminded me of this song (E.L.O.):

Perhaps a caricature of her, Christina Aguilera, and a few others I can't think of right now.Spring Goose wrote: Tue Mar 09, 2021 7:01 pmAll my songs in the opening post are from the last 20 years and sound nothing like contestants on American idol. And the issue is not who they are trying to sound like as much as how they do it. They tend to come across as second rate divas who can't differentiate volume from emotional content. Fortunately with social distancing I am less exposed to these sorts of singers.
