Why would I want to resample?

In my defence, as I hope you realise now after the other's comments, Spliff, that my second comment wasn't meant to be sarcastic. (A note to myself use smileys more in the future)

As for my first comment, I was being quite serious. In some circles resampling is what others would call bouncing. When writing a bassline with Z3ta+ gets to much for my cpu, I like to bounce to down to audio (or resample) to free up cycles. Then if I want to get creative with my bass sound I layer it up with different modulated filters on each layer, and resample (sorry bounce) that, and then maybe do it all over again.

Although mainly I do it to stop my cpu from throwing a wobbley :?

I believe that's the case as well Garry. I've spoke to some that complain about CPU getting bogged up on their Cubase if they're running Crystal through this and that, and how do I do it for my music? Being on Orion, I simply say 'Stream To .WAV' and work it in layers. Many times they come back and say 'there's no Stream To .WAV on Cubase?' and/or then they'll say 'Oh, I got it'. So it must be called 'Resample' then? :?

I like 'resampling' myself to bring something down to a interesting grunginess or speed difference. Also, 'resampling' on my EX5 et al allows me to build up many tones and effects into one unique playable tone.

'Resampling' has got to be about as generic a term these days as 'Alternative Music'.

speaking of hardware and resampling, the ensoniq ASRX has a resample function that you can use to free up CPU power when you run loops/hits through the built in efx...
