For me though it has nothing to do with scarcity part of the economical argument, just one thing, the perceived valued.

Like I said before, this thread I see as evidence to that theory.

I bought it several years ago, I used it quite a bit but I had so many problems with the activation process and updating it.
Then it started to look old and boring after seeing Serum. I don't think it is cheap because it looks bad but I'd pay not so much money for a thing that looks this bad.

There is an SOS review from Mar 2016, that lists Synthmaster Full version $379. That was not cheap. They have obvious re-evaluated their pricing.

I had forgotten I had it to be honest, until reading this thread, so I loaded up the latest version, and it is a really great synth.

I too had felt in the past that the sound was slightly lacking in some way, but I didn't feel that yesterday. Maybe my perception has changed or maybe the sound has improved, I don't know.

But I think it is definely worth the current $99.

No, it never cost that much. I don't know where SOS got that price from. Probably a mistake.

I think I bought it in a sale at $49 or something (sold it later). Then got Synthmaster One for $29 (or was it $19?). I still have it, but, never use it. Sound just doesn't inspire me. Nothing against the developer though, he's doing a great job, it's just that his taste obviously doesn't meet mine.

I bought v2.5 in 2011 and it was $79. I think the $379 price was for the Everything Bundle.

Its the perfect synth for cover bands. All sounds of iconic songs are available. Nowadays it would have to compete with the free Surge which looks a bit like it. No wonder they concentrate on selling sound packs…
I bet a price tag about one third of a comparable synth gives them more than 3 times of sales. So even regarding that they will make their cut…

you have to factor in geographic location too, someone in ny, london or berlin as examples, have a higher cost of being in business, and cost of living, even than someone in the north west of the uk.

ie i could afford to sell the same coded product here, at half the price of someone in london, and if sales were equal i could afford to live while they couldn't.

moving to completely different economic areas, skews this even more.

we don't, i was just adding another reason why a one off price doesn't work imo.
or that price and quality, are not always linked, as we may feel we are getting a bargain, whereas a dev might be doing very well comparatively.

in general terms, not synthmaster specific.

I guess also what is considered reasonable very much depends on your use.

For example, I am a amateur photographer, it's strictly a hobby.. I use a canon camera, I wouldn't spend more than $600 on a camera, yet from the emails canon send me I see they sometimes have specials on professional cameras costing $6,000 or more .... I would never buy such a camera whilst photography remains a hobby.. Now if I was a professional photographer my take on the $6,000 would be completely different.

Same for me I would easily spend $200 or more a plugin if I consider it great or would improve my workflow or product (I spend more than that regularly on sample libraries, and even during BF I spent more than that on a Reverb on sale). But if this was just a hobby I imagine, $50-$60 would be my desired pricing.

No that's not a mistake. Everything Bundle costs $379 during regular/no-sale periods (includes SynthMaster One, SynthMaster 2 all current/future expansions, and free upgrade to SynthMaster 3)

I wish that was true. Unfortunately, it is NOT. Our sales have been falling down since the beginning of 2021. I hope it doesn't go like that...
