Hope so! Fingers crossed!

I'm dealing with Ableton projects made over the past many years on my Intel Mac. Ableton does not replace a missing VST with an AU (or VST3) version of the same plugin. If I have to run rosetta mode forever because they don't make a VST2 ARM version I'm gonna be a very unhappy camper.
That's why everybody should have at least two Macs--the current one and the previous one. I just get old, used, cheap laptops and migrate all the old stuff over. They don't take up any space and I use them even more rarely than I thought I would have to. I finally let go of my 180c and 5200c. Sheepshaver has me covered for OS 6.0 to 9.1 stuff that my Powerbook G4 doesn't run.

I wouldn't count on Rosetta being available forever. I wouldn't even count on it being available in the next OS release later this year. The fact that it is not part of the OS install itself should be your clue.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

Since I use Logic and have Komplete 13U and a bunch of Spitfire libraries, I'm delighted that Kontakt is finally M1-compatible.

But what about Komplete Kontrol? A big part of the reason why I bought my S88 keyboard years ago was for the helpful guidelights and other useful extra bits, and I'm pretty frustrated that I'll need to still run Logic and all plugins in Rosetta mode until NI gets around to updating this program :(.

EDITED TO ADD:
Ah, looks like it's not even in beta yet :(

How do you send Midi to and from Sheepshaver? I could not find any solution to this… Same applies for Basilisk… And those ancient floppy based copy protection is also a problem, I still have those disks flowing around mainly useless though…
In theory it should be possible to program a tool within Sheepshaver to create a network based Midi connection or something like that… Programmers who know the old programming environments are about to extinct though…

Can't wait for a modern GUI. :tu:

It's a little less 2002 and a little more 2012 now. NI is the most unorganized and slow to adapt company ever. With all the investor money I expect a lot more. Can't wait to ditch their shitty products. All they have is legacy now.

Have you heard of AVID? :D

Doesn't belong here.

All I wanted M1 compatible from them was Kontakt (finally there) and Maschine (still waiting).

I understand the reasons why it takes so long (old codebase, etc.), but it has been a year and a half since M1 was released

I don't have anything like that anymore. That's why I was finally able to ditch my hardware, especially with the bare metal floppy drives. I still have an old USB floppy drive running about, but I haven't needed it in literally years now. I backed up any install floppies either by file, or by image, as was needed for install. I don't have any "floppy keys", just programs requiring serials. I wish I still had my Logic 5 CD, which was a copy key, but I was a good consumer and surrendered it when I upgraded to 6 and got the icky dongle...

The last thing I needed music-wise from OS9 or earlier was the Yamaha AN200/DX200 editing software, but I sold both of those units several years ago as well. As for MIDI in/out with Sheepshaver, I know it's possible, I've just never had to do it.

ha. what? at least 2? meanwhile... rosetta2 will probably have a life cycle like rosetta1 (with the transition to intel chips from the power pc days), and run for several years, when, (theoretically), all developers will have migrated to the silicon architecture. some won't, and then, they're plugins won't work on newer macs. same as it ever was (tech progress).

but that's then & this is now. rosetta2 is fine, and having one mac (or PC, or dog, or whatever) at a time is fine, too.

When Rosetta1 stopped with Lion, all My friends kept Snow Leopard for as long as possible. Later I could move my Snow Leo into a virtual machine and still fire it up if necessary. But that never really happened, unless I get a nostalgic feel…
Once I installed for a client on a brand new Mac without support for Snow Leo a virtual machine, as he needed to use some old software, and set it up so that the VM would open on start up in full screen mode.
I just imagined to bring this machine to an Apple store and confuse the personal…
I still have my Snow Leopard server DVDs. I wonder how long it will take to adapt the VMs to Arm. It would be a two folded emulation. From Arm to Intel to PPC, but I bet it would still be faster than those old machines, like my old Quadra installation running in Basilisk magnitudes faster than the original. It literally boots within a second…

right, but how many people live like that? most people either run the computer they have until they have to replace it, or update when they feel likes it's time. snow leopard was over 12 years ago; how many people care about it in the present?

Its pure nostalgia of course, but there are scenarios which require it… But that is most likely not music related…

False... ni pro 53 wont activate.. a true legend LOST!!

Kontakt needs the Guitar Rig style interface treatment, badly. And I hope they add easy ways of adding macro controls to a custom interface.
