Never, I f**king hate opera. It's just f**king awful. Like all forms of musical theatre, only moreso. I hate f**king ballet, too. OTOH, I love going to a symphony orchestra performance. Before Covid I saw an amazing performance of Beethoven's 9th at the Sydney Opera House with a 140 voice choir. It was spectacular!

Haven't been to many classical concerts but I saw Beethoven's 7th symphony played by this orchestra Spira Mirabilia a few years back.
It was hair raising - the players came out into the audience for the second slow movement, so I had one of the oboes within a few paces of me. Talk about surround sound ... that a definitely a peak experience. Could hear every nuance. I was lucky to be near the front.
