Just as I predicted, my additive synth is capable of insane kicks. I need to make a dedicated drum synth one day. For now, here's an example of what is possible:
Soundemote - Additive kick example.mp3
It's not perfect, and it has crackles, and it's a bit noisy, but that can all be improved. I bet it could do insane snares as well. Imagine if each drum module (kick, snare, clap) got this much attention to its synth engine. Hat and crash, still very iffy for me so I won't include that in the list. I think I need to dive into physical modelling for those.
Got excited about DrumComputer and now I'm upset.

Ok, umm, I think I got some hi hats going. This is not physical modelling, it's imitative synthesis.
Soundemote - hi hats via additive synth and effects.mp3
This required my additive synth plus EQ and multiband distortion, although not sure the distortion needs to be mutiband, could probably get away with a single distortion.

I've been getting comfortable with Prism and I made a whole percussion bed with it. No more "this synth demo is 100% the synth OH EXCEPT FOR PERCUSSION, YEAH UMM... YEHA SORRY, we don't actually know how to synthesize percussion..."
Tear In The Weave - The Final Oath Of Stalkthos.mp3
The "tops" (tambourine and the clappy hand percussion) are sample libraries, and there's a frame drum thrown in that's also a sample library, but everything else is synthesized, the strings, the taikos, the booms, the snares, the flute, etc. All prism.
So this just shows that percussion synths could be better, because here I am doing an entire cinematic composition with 90% synths.
