Probably worth checking out the kilohearts freebie fx as plenty of good stuff for trance (well any genre really)

Charlatan, Odin 2, Surge, Feldspar, Tunefish, ZynAddSubFX, Fullbucket stuff (including The Blooo), and oh: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XS_ ... p=drivesdk

First impressions were it has a shitload of features, a lot of which don't actually do that much (overcomplicated IMO). I played around for a few hours just to find most of what I did was fiddling around just because the knobs are there but not useful, but I know after I learn it properly I'll probably appreciate the ability for fine detail and deep tweaking. BUT...used it in a current track immediately because it sounds good, has bags of character and sits in a mix really well. Not many VSTis impress me much but I like it enough already that I'll probably pay for the commercial version. Good recommendation people :tu: . Was expecting to dislike it, but love it.

Tried that V Station while I was at it...deleted already. Tiny GUI, dicking around with license for a freebie, not wasting time learning how to edit sw to make the skin bigger. Meh.
you grumpy misanthrope 😘
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

Adam Szabo's Phazor, classic and just right trance phaser sound: https://www.adamszabo.com/vstplugins/phazor/
I double that recommendation. It sounds very nice for the genre (and for anything else really).

Sounds better to me than most of the payware phasers I tested. The only one which beats it IMO is Softube Fix Phaser.
I recently got very much into Phazor after this thread. It's nice enough on its own, but it's now a permanent fixture in my FX channels and I use it in everything. Slot it into your delay FX channel as an insert before the delay so that the send is Phazored prior to getting to the delay. You can Phazor post-delay, but I found that doesn't work as well. I particularly like the Valhalla Delay phaser delay mode already, but using Phazor as an insert on a clean Valhalla echo blows it out of the water...or TBH any old ping pong delay. It works beautifully on sparse synth lines with a shitload of delay feedback. And on vocals...superb, especially with sibilants and plosives. I played around with it on a 303 riff and it's stunning for that (though it kinda swamps the whole mix).

Whoever recommended Phazor... :tu: . Phazor into delay is a real ear opener. :hyper:

Surgext is a nice one. So is DSP56300. Can do a lot with those and some nice reverb.
