Should be easy enough to set up a control that will switch two plugins at the same time: Both Barricade and whatever is being used to control the gain after it. I'm sure Bitwig can do this and save the chain for recall elsewhere.
We might be talking about the same thing - the "outs" (which can increase or decrease volume) in Reelbus and EQ4 are post. Or maybe I'm still baffled. :ud:
We're both talking about output gain, yes - but this is the reason for requiring it:
dupont wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 7:39 pm Yes, I use a gain plugin (bitwig tool plugin) but if I want to compare the sound before and after limiting I have to switch off both limiter and gain plugin, not obvious for sound level comparison !
So he requires a method that will switch two plugins on and off at the same time until Barricade has its own output gain. Most DAWs I've used can do this and I'm presuming that Bitwig can as well, considering its modular nature.

Yes it is my purpose. I use limiters not only on busses and master but also on tracks in order to increase the song loundness. So I can decide where to put the limiter thersold when I compare A/B.

Yes indead I could assign both limiter and gain device to a macro in order to switch them but that's a tricky and not elegant job if I must do that for each track !

jens suggested that the dev might be receptive if you dropped him a message suggesting it as a feature request

Are there no container type devices in Bitwig that allow you to save and load parts of processing chains? - Which could contain just those three items: Control; Barricade; Gain. Then you just load that preset at any location required.

Everyone is just a little bit different....

I use Barricade 4 to catch any final peaks on the master and it's not working to hard at all....

No more than 1 dB of reduction and usually none at all unless there is a touch of compression....

I don't want to wear it out 🌞
But you also want to make sure those bits aren’t getting rusty!

If you are after limiting on a per track basis, look into Kilohearts free limiter. Gives you threshold, input and output gain. Barricade, at least for me, is reserved for the mix bus / master.

Kilohearts Limiter is good because it is free like you said, as well as LoudMax. Another option (paid) is DMG Audio TrackLimit. Has a few different modes so you can put it on basically anything and then refine the "style" to taste. Gets a lot of use in my stuff

Yes, in looking at OP's original post, I think this is what we're looking for - the Toneboosters Out option for Barricade. That would be nice.

But none of them offers the two-stage compression architecture Barricade does and neither do they have the saturation-stage so they basically belong to a different product-category altogether.

Yes, absolutely - and I would not be surprised at all if it showed up in an update in the not-too-distant future.

Just throw it in Snap-Heap and it does :)

Maybe - but then again the OP wanted to make his life easier, not more complicated... 😉

isn't that a product of aging? life was much easier when all i had to worry about was not losing the weapons from my star wars figures

not sure this is the place for such help ;)

fabfilter was mentioned earlier, is another option besides waiting on a feature request :)

My reading into this lengthy thread (for such a simple question), along with OP's responses, is that he/she is quite aware of alternatives and workarounds - just wanted to know if there was a piece of Barricade hiding somewhere.
