I clicked on the 'Last post' link for this thread that had WR's name on it, but at that same moment harry must have posted. So I read what was actually harry's post, thinking WR had posted it.

Thought to myself 'Jesus, WR's started early on the sauce today.'

Oh goodness me! Someone here is sensitive and defensive!
So tours mean nothing? Tell that to those that run the music industry.
While you're at it call up Mr. Dickinson and tell him and the rest of the Maiden lads to stop making big money with all those damn tours those silly rock stars.
It clearly did them more good than it did Blur or the Verve.
Clearly? How? Did they sell more records than Blur and/or Verve? No. Did they manage to tour the States? No. Did they even manage to get a Donut Shop jingle from this so called number one? No.
But please, don't mind me. Do tell how KLF and their smashing hit "clearly" benefitted the band.
BTW take note of the sarcasm. It's to demonstrate my superiority over this matter.
Anyway, the KLF's mates were in control of Blur. Zoo Music then Food, nuff said.
Ok you're talking about David Balfe (who was a former business partner with Bill Drummond).
He formed Food with Andy Ross and it was the latter who discovered and signed Blur. And?? I'm not seeing where you're going with this.
Are you saying Blur is inferior to KLF because they were signed to a label run by a friend of Bill's?
I hope not. Do I really need to tell you to grow up?
BTW take not of the last undermining comment. It's to show my superiority over this matter.
Obviously, they didnt need to.
Obviously? How? Did you read KLFs contractual agreement where it stipulates there's no need to tour the States? Were you their manager? Are you Bill's best friend? Do you like donuts?

Ask not what your DAW can do for you, but what you can do with your DAW

It made them a shitload of cash over here (enough to burn a million of it later on), maybe that's enough for them? Remember they were always an 'art project' to an extent, writing The Manual etc, managing and promoting too. Not all bands play by the same rules.

That's an assumption. You don't know what kind of deal KLF made with the label here in the States. If there was no publishing deal then they got ZERO for any songs sold.
If they did get a publishing deal and they weren't in the red to recoup any advancements (which most bands are for their lifetime), then they MIGHT have made some good money *if* they actually did reach number one and it wasn't paid hype to help sell records.

Not all bands play by the same rules.
Yes, i know. That's why there are contracts.
