I could never imagine using anything else than RME, and it's not snobbism of a high-end brand. The drivers are king. Damn, I can even connect my RMEs to my old old old computers and they will run just fine.

With RME support is outstanding.

I'd love to hear your views on one big issue I have with VICE. It handles velocities REALLY bad for me, where a kick with a velocity of just 1 will have the exact same thump as say velocity 100. The only difference is some sort of low pass filter on it. So would be ok for 4 to the floor programming, but complete fail for any soft hits.
Do you have experience with this? I emailed and they don't seem keen on fixing.

Something wrong with your quoting there but you're right, the Ujam drums things are very bad when it comes to subtlety. You can definitely forget about velocity being overly useful, although it works OK for getting that human variety into a 32nd note hi-hat, but you have to use hugely exaggerated settings. I also have a lot of trouble with volume setting, because I always run them with a single stereo output channel. The difference between 12 and 127 is about half the difference between 10 and 12. It's ridiculous but I have learned to live with it.

I upgraded from 2001 manufactured and bought M-Audio Audiophile2496 PCI to new RME HDSPe AiO Pro.

RME sounds very clear and sharp, as the m-audio was a bit more "veiled". Thats the only thing I can say about the sound. TotalMIX is well, a bit of a puzzle still, but I'll sort out the routing later on when I need to record something from youtube or a game etc.

Performance: 3% cpu usage at 32 samples with this R7950X. Nice. Maybe this will last another 20 years like audiophile did.
