long wait imo until FX5 ... next .. free one + another $$$ for and then ...say May'24 ...FX5..chk071 wrote: Tue Oct 17, 2023 5:52 pm Wondering if now is a good time to get the FX Collection. 129 € for me, plus this plugin. Tempting, but, I'm not sure if they're not about to release FX Collection 5, and do a 99 € sale at some point.

Same price for me, yet the only thing I paid for is Fragments (also have the Juno chorus and MS20 filter cos they were lovely freebies).Meester Smeeeth wrote: Tue Oct 17, 2023 7:27 pm €129 for fx collection 4 for me and I have everything in 3 apart from the rotary speaker.
It's obviously a terrific deal but I just don't need any of it.

I was really expecting and hoping something like this from Arturia. I was on the verge of buying Shaperbox.
However, not having time manipulation section (for FX like halftime) is a let down for me.
I will still buy it, because I love Arturia.

No time manipulation in this plugin?
I was eyeing Cableguys Shaperbox 3 for this. Do they ever do black friday sales?

I'm getting the offer to upgrade to FX 4 for 129 Euros too, but I do also have Shaperbox 3. So depends how good Efx Motions is. Decisions decisions...

I really love the stuff Arturia is doing and use Fragments and Coldfire on everything, even if it’s just to add a little color. They also have very little CPU hit in Live on my M1 PowerBook which is important for me as I’m doing real-time live manipulation in performances. Anyone see how this is in CPU usage? This will be great added to the rack!

On paper, this has some overlap with Shaperbox, but also seems to go further in some interesting ways.
Not only can you draw envelopes, it also seems you can additionaly modulate everything with the additional modulator section, which makes this look more flexible, modular and suitable for generative, experimental stuff.
Shaperbox has time shaping, bitcrusher and a flanger, but efx motions has the beat repeat module which looks very interesting.
You can adjust frequency bands in efx motions, but it's not obvious from the demos if the effects are multiband (which they are in shaperbox).
So I'll definitely have to demo this...
Update: excellent review for those who like to read over on CDM: https://cdm.link/2023/10/arturia-efx-motions-review/
Clears up many questions I had (so no multiband processing, but additional insert effects at the end of the chain!)

I'm not the type of person who hates bright skin, but it looks too bright. I guess they're going to be vampire hunters.
Anyway, I wanted them to make more Efx and Tape products. I'm gonna try.

It seems way deeper and advanced than I thought initially.xbow wrote: Tue Oct 17, 2023 9:19 pm On paper, this has some overlap with Shaperbox, but also seems to go further in some interesting ways.

And yeah, dark skin would be great.

Not that I see anything worth jumping ship from Cable Guys Shaperbox, but no multi-band processing = a no-go for me.
Now if (and hopefully when) Devious Machines get’s their act together and adds multi-band processing to Infiltrator 2, I’m jumping overboard head first into that lol.
Edit:
Multi-band processing as in the way Shaperbox implements it, and apparently has it patented since no one else seems to want to do it smh lol.

Yes, they do. If you Google it you can see their past sales. They had some pretty deep discounts the last couple of years.Dark Fiber wrote: Tue Oct 17, 2023 7:59 pm I was eyeing Cableguys Shaperbox 3 for this. Do they ever do black friday sales?

I'm liking the ability to use the Motion knob and the Dynamics knob together, and the Noise module obviously opens up the door to some potentially good stuff. Liking it so far!
Yo Leroy!
