That's literally in the first post of this thread.
Who cares. Maybe they're just excited about it. I know I am.

If excitement for you is posting the same thing a dozen times, then so be it.

Haha! My bad, I meant to post this one from today

And yes I am excited, there's at least 30% more UI visible in the new post.

Indeed. I can't wait to replace the Roland one. It just feels like they didn't put much effort into it. I haven't upgraded my 909 yet. I think maybe, in my mind I'm waiting for them to complete all three? 808 and 606 rank much higher in my personal usage than the 909. D16 are killing it though. I just wish it hadn't taken them so long to get around to updates.

I'm curious. How are you guys using these drum machines in your setups? Do you sequence externally from the plugin or program the beats into the plugin and trigger changes externally?

I usually rack them in Live and play them on Push like I would a "real" drum machine. But I'm kinda warming up to the idea of programming them on the plugin then triggering changes from Push.

Post

I sequence them from the DAW but that's only out of habit, not preference really.

With live 11, I used to reroute each drum from both nepheton and drumazon to their own pads; on a large drumrack template.
Since version 2, i simply use the built-in sequencers, and trigger the patterns via piano roll.

Ever since I discovered lazy mode, I use that (most of the time). It takes two tracks. Empty drum rack on one track and route MIDI to another track with the instrument on it. You don't get fancy light colors and you have to remember which track you're playing on but thanks to drums using general MIDI layout, it's a quick and dirty way to play with just about any drum plugin. Works on stuff like EZ Drummer too. I usually only start building a rack if I'm mixing and matching pieces of kit or building my own synth sounds.

Lazier mode is putting a drum module on one pad in drum rack and in the midi input setting for that pad set the input to All.

I'm thinking I'll do the same with drumazon 2 and nepheten 2 in bitwig. I mean creat one big drum rack with both in order to sequence from push. Havent actually tried for a long time but I think then workflow was to put the plugin into one pad and then use the external instrument device on other pads to send midi and receive audio from the plugin on the other pad. So you could have different plugins set up within the same rack and trigger all sounds from their own pads and get the audio back from theboutout you want. With bitwig macros and remote pages you could also set a pretty good master control set up.

Vortifex wrote: Sat Nov 11, 2023 10:55 am Sounds like there's been no work done to improve the accuracy of the modelling. The open hihat in particular sounds virtually nothing like the 808, lacking the tonal character and the smooth sustain of the 808 hat.

But I still like Nepheton. I think of it as '808 inspired' and enjoy it for what it is (besides the tiny UI).
I really doubt that, based on the improvements to drumazon sonically, and the video posted of nepheton. Hard to know for sure because they used so many effects in their demos but it sounds pretty punchy to me. V1 was OK but lacked something. Compared them both to roland cloud and the latter I thought had what I missed in the d16 v1s but drumazon 2 allowed me to replace roland cloud.

I don't even care if it is 100% accurate. I don't want it for nostalgia. I want it for d16 quality and the overall 808 character, which it definitely has.

Drumazon 2 and Phoscyon 2 are both fantastic, I am confident this will be too.

Plus, the high hats are the last things I want an 808 for

It's not like this will be the only drum synth I own for stuff like that.

I Just looked up what this plug in actually is and it replicates something called a Roland TR-808?…

It’s sounds GREAT!!!!!!!,ive never heard this

I might have to buy this
live 11 / Arturia collection / many Softube plug ins / thats it
