I use a similar approach. The studio computer has what I need to make appropriate noises on demand; no extraneous software is installed. It doesn't connect to the internet, ever.

This here laptop doubles as a test rig. Rarely does software make it past the test phase.

I don't think you have to worry yet. The samples went from mundane to sublime, but nothing you can't do on a VST. Not a whole lot of them from what I can tell. It was damn easy though to find one that matched project and click it and it was in my browser tree to be loaded up.

Not a DAW, but Serato Sample has real-time stem-sepration:

stem separation, nice, that saves me some money going elsewhere! <dusts off the old FL license>

What's the point of stem separation if you get clocked for copyright sample use on one of the stream services?

^^^ Image-Line has bought the following companies:

UVI (January 2023)
MeldaProduction (2022)
WA Production (2022)
Producer Loops (2021)

Do I need to ask for permission to use FL Cloud samples in my productions?
No, carry on. All sample content you download from FL Cloud using your account is royalty-free. If the FL Cloud system allows you to download it to your local drive, it’s cleared for your use. You also keep the right to use any sound you have downloaded during your subscription or with your credits, even if you’re no longer an FL Cloud user.

based on google bard
WA Production (2022): 42,739 samples
Producer Loops (2021): 53,320 samples
Total number of samples: 96,059

This is a huge number of samples, and it represents a vast library of sounds that producers can use to create their music. It is clear that both WA Production and Producer Loops are committed to providing their customers with high-quality samples and loops that they can use to create professional-sounding tracks.

Here is a breakdown of the number of samples in each of WA Production's (2022) and Producer Loops' (2021) most popular sample packs:

WA Production (2022)

Smokey Loops: 536 samples
Strategic Audio: 233 samples
Studio Trap: 142 samples
Thursday Koolshit: 22 samples
Ueberschall: 243 samples
Urbanistic: 50 samples
Vanilla Groove Studios: 326 samples
Producer Loops (2021)

The Jazz Lounge: 98 samples
Organic Loops Soul Jazz Keys: 120 samples
Vandalism MIDI Outrun: 100 MIDI files
Producer Loops What You Want: 150 samples
W. A. Production Lofi Illusion 2: 130 samples
Image Sounds Smooth Jazz 1: 100 samples
I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

To me it seems like the only use for Stem Separation is to steal other people's tracks so for that reason I find the whole concept repugnant. :?

Oh and I really wish people would stop calling loops samples. Yes all loops are samples but not all samples are loops.

Not really... it´s about 1% of what Splice and Loopcloud offer or perhaps even less...and the samples are extremely single sided towards beat making, RNB, etc...

I don´t really find any sample I would even consider to use while in 2-3 minutes in Loopcloud I have at least found 10 samples I would immediately use...

If you are into beat making it could be an alternative atm but for the rest of the world there is very very little choice and nothing for my taste...

It's a lot until you specify a key or a bpm.

Fave thing...
For me, it's the new mouse scrolling speed slider.
My projects can have pretty big playlists, and scrolling down to find a track was always sooo tedious.

But they did it even better than I expected, as scrolling over a knob or slider (volume, wet/dry etc) isn't affected by the new scroll scaling.
That was a classy little touch that I wasn't expecting.

As for the rest... only stem separation seemed interesting, but I got RipX, so haven't tried it yet.

It sure is quick to bring up Edison for a sample. But I actually used it for time stretching yesterday and I think I found a new favorite toy. I wonder if it's because I;m on the trial subscription that I don't see a lot. I type in Search word Midi and I get 1 file. Lots of Kicks and Snares in there. Don't need that. Then I try and find Drum loop. Pages and pages of hi-hats.
