Do you concur with the original poster's view that computers ought to enable everyone to do everything? To me, this notion seems quite irrational. At a certain point, commitment to your goals is essential, whether it's in the form of time, money, resources, or a blend of these. Regrettably, not everyone has the means to make such an investment. This disparity isn't an issue with technology but rather a societal challenge. While tools like computers can streamline problem-solving, they cannot substitute the determination and effort required to achieve one's aspirations.

Choosing from the context menu, shifting it upwards as an inversion, on a whim clone dragging the root down an octave. Doesn't seem to take ages and is kinda nifty. Tested this for the first time ever. Reaper 7.

This would be great. FL is forever popping up a note properties box when I accidently rest my cursor on a note too long. It would be great to have this option.

I did not take that statement as literal as you seem to be taking it. Computers won't ever literally "enable everyone to do everything".

But as an aspiration, especially in the context of accessibility (lowering barriers to entry, removing obstacles), I agree with the idea that computers should help as many people as possible to be able to create and express themselves.

I feel quite strongly about this because I myself wouldn't be making music now if it hadn't been for accessible sequencers allowing me to explore music making in a playful way that did not require me to already know… anything. I wouldn't have even known that this is something that I'd want to learn had it not been for these tools showing me that it's something I can do, and like doing.

This is the science 'fiction' we were promised, and where many of us have been working with computers towards. We're getting closer each day, and it's a wonderful time.
That reminds me of Microsoft Songsmith where you could record a voice line and have it generate accompaniment around it.

I should have a license for it somewhere but I doubt it'll install and run on a modern computer. A shame they gave up on it.
