When those DAWs grow up to have they same midi workflow features, then we will think about it. Until then, we will stick to free upgrades.EfreetiSultan wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 2:15 pmOuch.. I recently tried to take some of my better "versatile" compressors (such as Pro-C 2, FirComp, Molot GE) to the Plugin Doctor and clone a "Dr Pepper" starting-point preset using some 1176 plugins as a reference. Should be easy to get in the ballpark, right?
It turns out that all my 1176 plugins have different attack/release ranges, so the "10 o'clock, 2 o'clock, 4:1" setting is significantly different on all of them. The actual tail curves were also hard to match with each other and impossible to match with the non-emulations.
A few different conclusions that can be drawn! I think if you like 1176 it is worth having a dedicated plugin, but it may be difficult to find the right plugin for "your" 1176. TrackComp is a bit more adjustable which is great but means there is no Dr Pepper setting...

Sure it is not, but if one is looking for that smash and leave transient out style, those get nicely close. Also Cytomic Glue. Can feed some harmonics to it tho..ampetrosillo wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 1:00 pm I wouldn't say that Molot(ok) is a 1176 compressor. I have it, by the way. It's its own thing.
Honestly, folks, it doesn't matter whether it is a 1176 or not. Get a decent, full-featured compressor and use *that*. Your DAW may have one already. You can have emulations or just dial in that sort of response on a compressor that can do it all (especially for track duties). I am convinced you could do a full album, tracks and buses, just with Kotelnikov.

Do you have a link to some music you've done with these 'adult' programs?EfreetiSultan wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 2:15 pmOuch.. Uhm.. Of course. I fail to see what your point is though.. It's both off topic and off base. And I have links to music I made with rebirth and reason 5.0 also..donkey tugger wrote: Sun Jun 16, 2024 12:38 pmDo you have a link to some music you've done with these 'adult' programs?EfreetiSultan wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 2:15 pmOuch.. DT uses FL Studio to great effect. The "proper DAW", comment. The users' abilities are the only limits on any DAW.EfreetiSultan wrote: Sun Jun 16, 2024 1:16 pmUhm.. Of course. The hyperboles like "Industry Standard" are no longer valid. People are making music on mobile phones, etc.

I'm interested in your bona fides to be able to assess the aptitude of others who don't use a 'proper daw'.EfreetiSultan wrote: Sun Jun 16, 2024 1:16 pmUhm.. Of course. "post a link then" you say as if I somehow have to expose my music on kvr because you TELL me to. You don't even ask politely. And it's clear you have a negative bias. You just want to hear my music if it's up to Your standards. No thank you that's not how the world works. You wanna listen to my music? Try to ask politely next time.donkey tugger wrote: Sun Jun 16, 2024 1:33 pmI'm interested in your bona fides to be able to assess the aptitude of others who don't use a 'proper daw'.EfreetiSultan wrote: Sun Jun 16, 2024 1:16 pmUhm.. Don't demand people to "ok post a link", with an obvious negative bias where you clearly seek to somehow get me in a "gotcha" moment. Very transparent btw.
I'm very self conscious with my music as most people are, and just because you, a complete stranger to me, thinks you can DEMAND it from me is absolutely pathetic.

I don't know what a dt is. Fruity loops is a joke. Sure you can make music with it but still a joke. Imagine if say Hans Zimmer used fl and not cubase. That'd be hilarious. The Noodlist wrote: Sun Jun 16, 2024 1:25 pmDT uses FL Studio to great effect. The "proper DAW", comment. One stringed guitar, it makes music, recorded on what? Limits and boundaries, is there any?

Not cheap but definitely with it IMO, Empirical Labs Arouser. It probably hits all compressor types you'd like to cover.

Well perhaps don't judge other people as "children" or "adults" based on your own childish "negative bias" next time eh?EfreetiSultan wrote: Sun Jun 16, 2024 1:38 pm"post a link then" you say as if I somehow have to expose my music on kvr because you TELL me to.
