Did anyone compare UA Bassmint and Devious Machines Bass Focus?
Does Bass Focus bring anything new compared to Bassmint?

This is what Bass Focus claims to do:sinkmusic wrote: Sun Aug 11, 2024 6:17 pm Did anyone compare UA Bassmint and Devious Machines Bass Focus?

Bass Mint has a saturation mode and an Octave mode that might help address similar issues, but I get the feeling that they're doing very different things. Bass Focus would be more comparable to Waves Renaissance Bass (RBass) or Denise Audio BassXXL.Bass Focus generates harmonics which are higher in frequency than the original bass, but are perceived as part of the same sound. This makes the original low frequency sound louder, increasing perceived presence and power. This psychoacoustic effect works even when the original frequency isn’t audible, such as when listening on smaller speakers.

Bass Focus has always sounded like Waves Maxx Bass to me, and that works pretty well for that job.
For sub harmonic stuff I also turn to Waves, either Submarine or Lo Air.

Also, unfiltered audio's dent/ indent distortions can be used along with the filtering to do some nice bass tricks. This is true of any decent distortion provided you can pre and post filter the signal that's being processed.

Picked up BassMint a few days ago, yet to really deploy it but in my brief tests it seemed nice. More complex than RBass but definitely useful. I think it could yield interesting results when using more extreme settings.Stopani wrote: Wed Aug 21, 2024 8:33 am I've been getting great results using BassMint by Unfiltered Audio.
BX Subsynth is also very good.
I'll have to try out MBassedore
Feel like Specops could do some interesting bass trickery too.

Weird that Waves Submarine hasn't even been mentioned once yet...

Probably because it's a sub harmonic generator, and not a psycho acoustic bass enhancement processor. Different jobs, different strengths. though some of them have overlap like; Voxengo's LF Max Punch, Unfiltered Audio Bassmint and Leapwing Audio's Root One which do both tasks in the same plugin. all the rest here are MaxxBass/RBass adjacent, but none of em actually sound like either(Bassmint sounds really bad IMO)jens wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 7:59 am Weird that Waves Submarine hasn't even been mentioned once yet...![]()

I resold BassMint, cuz couldn't get satisfactory results. I and many others use RBass for years, but don't need it each time.
Try this.
Split your bass signal and route it to two channels.
Low channel 30 - 200 hz
High channel 201 - 8 Khz
Add some distortion or saturation to Low Channel.
Or split into 3 channels
30-200 hz
201 - 1.8 Khz
1.81 - 8 khz
or... be creative

Toneprojects Basslane Pro is really good for bass control and enhancement. Lots of options.

I really love this one, it’s become my go-to.

And very few people mention it.
It’s very similar to the classic Waves MaxxBass, but for some reason I like it better. Sounds pristinely beefy to me on my Event Opal monitors.
