That does help indeed, but probably not like you intended. I do not like anything I hear in this video (zipper noise being the worst). But that's likely because my taste in music is completely different to the guy who did this video. It also doesn't really explain a lot and instead seems to focus on 'how weird can a sound get with allpass filtering'. At least I doubt this suite can only do quirky experimental stuff, but feel free to correct me.
I may sound negative here but I'm still interested, otherwise I would just check out from this thread and move on.

Thanks for your reply.
In addition to the video, you can find info about Chameleon in

the launch trailer

and in the sound examples on soundcloud
https://soundcloud.com/darkpalacestudio ... eleon-demo

finally the manual might give you a thorough understanding of what chameleon can and cannot do:
https://darkpalace.studio/assets/manual ... v1.0.0.pdf

Overall I fully agree that Darkpalace Studio needs more marketing (showcases, videos, examples, ...), but unfortunately time is the limiting factor here.

I am actually interested in this, but those demos are terrible, it shows things that could be done with pretty much any EQ?

Picked this up yesterday. While I cannot figure out what some of the filters do, the module which does the Disperser like stuff is perfect and probably better than the Kilohearts version. But at least 2 of the filters seem to do very little, one seems like a band pass. Anyway, for the price, great little product and its CLAP too.

The point of some of the demos is to showcase that allpass filters can be used for things normal EQs can do.
However there is much more to it, e.g. the snare and bells demo sounds show more complex features.

Thanks for checking out Chameleon!

Chameleon 1 and 2 introduce a first or second order allpass filter.
Those plugins can help to correct (or introduce) phase issues between different elements in your mix (e.g. "kick and bass" or "snare and overheads") in a way that a normal phase-flip would not be able to do. Furthermore (as pointed out right above) you can use them as all sorts of standard eq features, like lowpass, highpass, shelve, notch and so on. Feel free to check out the manual or the presets.

You can hear phase changes of all-pass filters, even on a single soloed audio track. It just takes a bit of critical listening practice and good monitoring.

A little mixing tip: try using an all-pass filters on signals that are "too clicky" but you don't want to EQ them. Even if they are soloed you should be able to hear a 2nd order all-pass when you hit just the right frequency where most of the transient energy is.

Another tip: Try side-chaining an all-pass filter to a compressor and set it to 2nd order around the loudest upper bass peaks. It'll subtly change the compression feel due to the large group delay. In the same vein, try setting a pre and post emphasis 1st order all-pass filter going into saturation. Again it will subtly change the outcome of the process (the harmonics from the saturation will be offset in phase compared to the original signal). If you are really hardcore, try doing this on the side channel in a mid/side matrix. :)

Heya all, we just released Chameleon V1.1.0 which includes keytracking, a second filter type, as well as codesigning to make it run better macOS including a dmg installer. With the addition of the State-Variable type of filters for Chameleon X, we have opened up the way to allow for modulation without zipper noises, the old filters are also still available to use!

Overview
- Core: macOS codesigning, introducing dmg installer
- Core: Introduced SV allpass filters
- Core: Introduced keytracking functionality
- UI: Updated themes

Update: From V1.1.1
- Core: Fixed issue where CLAP would not respond to midi-input

For any questions, feel free to check out the detailed manual, shoot us an email or simply ask away on any of the forums :)

Really digging this as a more versatile alternative to Disperser. It's actually much better imo. Great for the rubbery modern psytrance bass, great for adding a bit of liquidy goodness to squelchy sounds. Been using it to phase align kick and bass too, and it works really well- much better than pure phase inversion or the like.

One issue- for Chameleon X at least, the mix control isn't great- I guess given the nature of the plugin, there are phasing issues with this. But it's so very audible and while I guess this could be used creatively, anything besides 100% mix seems to colour the sound in less than ideal ways.

All in all, this is a great little suite of goodies- Great work here, pretty unique and useful plugins. Next up, I'll try the skew limiter. 😎

Thank you for the kind words. It is great to hear that you like the plugin! :)

The mix is just doing that, mixing the original with the processed signal. As the processed signal has more or less phase rotation going on, turning down the mix will result in one or many notch filters, resulting in comb filtering.
In the same way, the diff button can be used in creative ways to create a bandpass. This can give very interesting results when used in combination with keytracking.

What is that, another Chameleon update?! This time around it's more focussed on improvements and bug-fixes so be sure to update!

Overview:
- Core: Updated JUCE to 8.0.2+
- Core: Removed internal upper Q limit for the generic filter algorithm in Chameleon X
- UX: Renamed plugins to start with Uppercase characters to improve consistency
- UX: Improved plugin startup time by removing unused shaders
- UI: Improved graphical performance by requiring OpenGL4.1
