i really don't get the Rosetta issues. People act as if it's a virus, what's the go?
I've been running Cubase in Rosetta mode pretty much 99% of the time since November `21 with an M1 macbook pro, yesterday I opened one project in native silicon mode and it just couldn't handle it until i went from 256 sample buffer to 512. Nasty glitch sound stuff. I then ticked the Rosetta box and opened the same project again, it was sitting about 30% on the asio meter.
I have tried tons of projects, honestly, in REAL WORLD use, native silicon over rosetta it's either hardly noticeable or even worse.
my machine feels pretty stable too
what is the beef?

i use a handful of plugins that haven't been and probably won't be getting updated to apple silicon, so rosetta Cubase has been my mixing mode. I'm still looking for replacements, and some companies have been slow to the party. Some also, like Loopmasters definitely won't be updating Bass Master for example. Some plugins will live and die with Rosetta.

it's not really a battle. I was just wondering why some devs were able to create installers that didn't require me to install yet another piece of software, while others were not. I have since moved on and simply installed it.
It was simply my first new computer since 2012 (it retired my old Mac mini) and it having the 4th generation of this chip led me to believe, that all those modern plug-ins simply worked (which they do - AFTER the installation).
Would I have preferred to not install something else I shouldn't need? yes! does it matter? not really!

I kind of understand though. Long time Windows users have undoubtedly experienced applications also installing Microsoft VC Redistributables etc. I remember wondering about that too, but found out why. I guess i was snarky in my reply, but that was more towards these kind of questions of Rosetta installing are everywhere.
Anyway enjoy your great new computer!
