Acustica intros Corn: The 80’s Chorus, Reborn.

Depending on the need, the original Juno chorus is not something I'd say sounds great. It sounds, thats for sure. But it wasnt designed to be anything near high quality. I think it's value to us now is its low quality. So it's kind of corny that a company would claim to have meticulously modelled something that is not that great sounding. Strange corny times...

Our loyal customer discounts range from 15% to 55%. If you want an average, most of our users are getting around 30% off which can be applied on top of the introductory discount.hurricaneaudiolab wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2024 6:31 pmThe pushback you're getting on the price I think comes from the idea that maybe the Juno chorus emulation has somewhat become devalued in people's minds due to the emulations that were offered for free at one point (Arturia, Sonic Academy) are currently eternally free and pretty good (OSL, TAL), and a few that are offered at a more consumer friendly price (FAC Chorus is $10, OSL Multi Chorus is $29, AIR Jura Chorus is $29). The Juno chorus is also a relatively simple device. almost in the same category as those "one-knob" devices. Your defense is that your emulation is the best one out there in terms of audio quality. Fair. However, you're going to have a difficult time swaying the non-average customer to pay $80 right now just based on that.Acustica Community wrote: Mon Nov 18, 2024 12:23 pm
During the current introductory period, Corn is available for €75, and with additional discounts applied, the average customer is paying between €40–50.
Speaking of which - wondering what it takes to become an "average" customer. I've purchased Amethyst, Gold, Sand, & Taupe. I'm guessing that's not enough to make it into the "average" category. So Corn would be about $80 for me. I'm one of those people I mentioned above - I'm not paying $80 for a Juno chorus for the reasons above.

Are they really a small developer?billinder33 wrote: Mon Nov 18, 2024 2:19 pmDo other developers not meticulously craft their plugins for users who prioritize sound? You guys release a new plugin almost weekly, that's a lot of meticulous crafting for a small software developer.

Acustica Audio, Your LOYAL Customers are still waiting on a LIME 2 new release , and for the customers who put you on the map? You forget about us ? I’m that loyal customer by the way. That gets a pretty good discount on your products, cool. But this isn’t why you’re gonna continue to get push back moving forward.
Update the older libraries to hyper technology Acustica. Same request, years later. A lot of us supported your platform early on, yet you don’t seem to respect us enough to update ALL of your products that were CPU whores. Update your plugins so we can actually use our investments. I barely touch your old plugins now, and I do in fact love alot of them. You’re too stubborn to see the writing on the wall. Support those requests that we’ve been asking and waiting for you to honor for several years now !

We have been releasing updates for many products almost daily (Magenta, Gold, Erin, Ivory, and more). You should check Aquarius for products that have updates available.trusampler wrote: Thu Nov 21, 2024 3:37 am Acustica Audio, Your LOYAL Customers are still waiting on a LIME 2 new release , and for the customers who put you on the map? When I said the same thing I was attacked by the fanboys.bmanic wrote: Mon Nov 18, 2024 8:17 am The actual real price for most people is 120 euros once the intro offer is gone. That IS ridiculous for a single chorus plugin, no matter how you look at it.
In this market, in 2024, no plugin is worth more than $100 at the full price. And no DAW more than $400 - considering that at that price, it includes every option/plugin. A chorus or distortion.. $50 tops. But thanks to the fanboys, the halo effect and the paid reviews, we have the current prices.

There's over 130+ Acustica plugins. Even if they were to update one old plugin a month, it would take ten years to work through their catalogue. Many of those old plugins are effectively abandoned.trusampler wrote: Thu Nov 21, 2024 3:37 am Acustica Audio, Your LOYAL Customers are still waiting on a LIME 2 new release , and for the customers who put you on the map? Acustica has stated they do not make as much money on updates as they do releasing new products. They realize every time they release a new product, there's always cheerleaders saying, "Instabuy!", "Acustica please take my money!", "Wow, this new plugin is just what I needed! It's helped me mix so much quicker!" It's like playing bingo with those phrases on GS after every release.
Acustica customers repeatedly get on the hype train and then find they've spent $3k or $4k or even more on plugins they never use and that will never get updated.
Acustica has also said there has never been promise of updates and that a buyer should test a plugin before purchase and be happy with it in that exact state.
This is what Acustica has been for a number of years.
Tldr, Those updates for most of the old plugins aren't happening.

This sums it up really well. Most fanboys are just those who enjoy that LoFi sound and has deep pockets.hmusic wrote: Thu Nov 21, 2024 7:22 pmThere's over 130+ Acustica plugins. While we do have an extensive catalog, the idea that older plugins are "abandoned" is simply inaccurate. We have consistently demonstrated a commitment to updating our products, with numerous releases over the past years focused on engine improvements, stability, and sound quality. For example, we have released updates for Ivory, Magenta, Amber, Gold, and many others showcase our commitment to refining the user experience, even for existing products.
That said, developing updates is a resource-intensive process. It's not as simple as a "one-plugin-per-month" schedule; updates often involve re-engineering technologies, which requires significant time and effort. This ensures that our plugins meet the same high standards as our newer products.
Regarding our release policy, we've always been transparent about our approach: customers are encouraged to test a plugin thoroughly before purchasing it; this means we prioritize transparency and fairness by ensuring customers know exactly what they're purchasing.
Moving forward, we remain committed to balancing innovation with continued improvements to our existing offerings.

I don't use anything Acustica anymore, and still think some of the anti-Acustica sentiment here and elsewhere is unreasonable.
That said, a catalog of their size is effectively unmaintainable. That's why I've dropped a few sarcasm nuggets on some of these new releases.
Like all small developers, they certainly have to review what people have bought and installed over the years, choose their most popular offerings to put on the update roadmap, and the others will get left behind by necessity. As the consumer, you're going to have to guess which Neve clone or compressor or saturator will have longevity within their massive portfolio.
At least this one does something all the others don't. And if people buy it, should encourage forward compatibility.
