absolutely cracking synth, it made very silly sounds
i miss not being able to use it cos obv the download no longer works and the developer is long gone

Photosounder is a VSTi?... I thought it was not... VSTi that make sound from images are Camel Audio Cameleon & Rocktave/Oscillasoft Universal (which can use up to 3 images) to name a few...

I'm not sure if it's a VST or not. You can buy it at Plugin Alliance. It's all the way at the bottom: Photosounder is a Standalone Application, not a Plugin.
So this is not the one I think of. Closest I can find is something from 2021. A Cycling 74 synths called Image Scanner Synth.

Personally for using images I like Spectrobits from g200kg... Loads in BMP JPG PNG & you can have the option to paint in the image for sound modulation or just forget the image & paint with pen, airbrush or line the yellow at bottom is spectrogram moving from right to left with events triggering at painted frequencies up-down-left-right...

Yes, Agreed... It can make some musical sounds that a person can actually 'USE' whilst some are bizarre noise at best...
