My bad, yes it was. But it was new to me. And I had been waiting a long time to finally get a Waldorf.

For me, the Behringer MS-5. I would have loved to have an original SH-5 though.
The limitations are wonderful!

Dreadbox Murmux Adept is the best of 2024 for me and one of the best analog polys ever.

Have to agree that it's a head-turner. Looks great AND sounds great. Only had it for a couple of months but it's now top of my list for making Dr Who type sounds. Big rubbery boingy sounds just ooze out of it, though fuctifino what to actually use them fortlr wrote: Mon Dec 23, 2024 4:53 pm For me, the Behringer MS-5. For Hardware synth of the year I would like to nominate:

drumroll...

The Future Sound Systems CRIC.
Which just barely made it in to releases in 2024- got the notice on the 24th of December it was in stock. I came in and asked the guy at the counter...(couldn't remember the name of the thing) and I look down and there the box was leaning against the wall. I made them open it!
Since I have zero experience with a pin matrix, I couldn't get it to make a noise and with all of this behind me I moved on.

Too much to play with there.

Cric looks like a hoot! I love the colorful side panels. I also saw it sitting behind the counter at PC but I'm very afraid to try one. I love what I've heard from other FSS stuff.

I'll go for the Polybrute 12 because of the keybed thing.
I tried an Osmose last week and it just felt completely alien. Combine that with an impenetrable sound programming 'language' and I think it will just quietly disappear.
I don't know whether Arturia will allow other manufacturers to utilise its keybed under licence...If Arturia is smart, they'll release a range of midi keyboards featuring their fulltouch sensor system.

I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.

Have the PolyBrute 12.
Like it a lot...
First go round, I thought it sounded a bit thin.
Decided to grab another... and this time run it thru a 1073 clone.
The 1073 and my having a better handle on gain-staging and the Osc/Filters (after watching numerous videos)... the PolyBrute 12 just "clicked".
As far as the feel of the keybed (aside from the Poly-Aftertouch/Full-Touch), I don't like it as much as the Montage M7.
Arturia has advanced the modern keyboard function, but there's still room for improvement (IMO).

Would you share such a video that helped?
I looked at Grace Design stuff and they have this very affordable floorboard unit made for guitar and such instruments
look at Bix:
https://www.frontendaudio.com/grace-des ... nt-preamp/
"A better than 30VDC internal operating voltage provides for incredible headroom. Its highs are smooth and open, and the lows are deep and rock solid. "
Here some Talkbass over it
https://www.talkbass.com/threads/quick- ... p.1298645/
Seems that power voltage is a big part of how preamps can sound and most manufacturers bail out because it's costly capacitors and everything as you go up in voltage.
There was en short interview with Robert Never in the documentary Dave Grohl did over Soundcity and he bought the Neve board.
- Neve said it was 90V inside
- some special construction with transformers that blend channels etc
So how far can these usb driven 5V stuff go, one wonders.....
Been looking at possible additions for synths in $2000-4000 range
- maybe try out such a high end preamp instead for extra oomphhh and clarity
Or an Elektron Analog Heat thingy...over which I heard good things....
