There are a lot of highly configurable plugins that let users assign parameters to expose to the DAW for automation. Check out the Omnisphere manual for how they do it.anukari-music wrote: Thu May 01, 2025 12:02 amA preset in Anukari can have many thousands of parameters, so unfortunately it's not really feasible to expose them all to the DAW by default. For example, on most machines you can have 500 masses, each with several parameters that can be modulated. Or 50 microphones, or 200 oscillators, with all their parameters... etc.enCiphered wrote: Wed Apr 30, 2025 11:37 pm Hmm, that's a bit disappointing to hear. I usually expect plugins to expose all parameters to the DAW by default, as that's kind of the standard and I tend to modulate the hell out of my plugins. That said, I understand if you chose a more manual approach for design or workflow reasons in this case. Still, it does feel a bit cumbersome from a user perspective. I’ll have to think about the purchase, as it might add too much friction to my workflow.
Anyway, congrats and all the best. Very inspiring instrument!
Of course that all might not be your cup of tea. Certainly Anukari is way, way out there and is not going to be what everybody is looking for!

Yeah, unusable as I use a laptop and I don't even know what crap graphics chip it has. Hopefully I'll remember this when I upgrade (probably in the fall).

Just to be clear: Anukari does allow you to assign parameters to expose to the DAW for automation. And it's quite flexible about how you can do this. I was just responding to the complaint that all parameters are not automatically exposed to the DAW. The user has to choose what to expose, or of course use a preset that has already made those choices.zerocrossing wrote: Thu May 01, 2025 3:56 pmThere are a lot of highly configurable plugins that let users assign parameters to expose to the DAW for automation. To all those folks who have reported issues with M3/M4 macs, first of all thank you for trying it out and reporting back on how it is working. I'm glad that people have been able to find performance issues with the free demo before making a purchase.
These issues are definitely not expected, and something is amiss that I'm looking into. We made a point to develop the presets on an M1 Pro Macbook (not even an M1 Max) to make sure that they'd be healthy on all macs.
I'm looking into whether Apple has changed something in the most recent macOS version, and also some other avenues. Unfortunately digging into this may take some time.

I´m under the opinion that the M4 is more prone to create crackling vs. realtime play uses than the M2 does.tq wrote: Thu May 01, 2025 3:01 pm Hm, then the crackles should be a bug - my Mini has the M4Pro chip, 14 CPU cores, 20 GPU, with 48 GB RAM, so this should have more power than the M2 powerbook.
i switched from a M2mini to an M4mini, running the exactly same realtime play patches.
I´ve not yet played with Anukari.
I´ll see, ...past tomorrow would i have in theory the possibility to set up a 2nd setup, and run my M2 also

Good luck, and keep us posted. Looking forward to a beta that’s useable on my systemanukari-music wrote: Thu May 01, 2025 4:32 pm I'm looking into whether Apple has changed something in the most recent macOS version, and also some other avenues. Unfortunately digging into this may take some time.

I'm hoping that after the performance issues are addressed, you'll be willing to repeat and extend the introductory price!anukari-music wrote: Thu May 01, 2025 4:32 pm To all those folks who have reported issues with M3/M4 macs, first of all thank you for trying it out and reporting back on how it is working. Certainly. I plan to keep the intro price around for a while while I work out kinks anyway, but later on if the intro offer goes away, anyone who tried the demo this early and had issues, PM me and I would be happy to extend the offer privately. I really appreciate the early testers.buffalo roam wrote: Thu May 01, 2025 7:39 pm I'm hoping that after the performance issues are addressed, you'll be willing to repeat and extend the introductory price!![]()

For folks who want to see a real demo of Anukari, instead of the clunky little demos I've made myself, Mick Gordon just shared what he's been doing with it:

Okay, I'm pretty sure I figured out what the problem was here with mac performance (particularly on M3/M4). There is a new 0.9.4 version available which a couple early testers have confirmed helps a lot. I don't doubt that I have more work to do but hopefully this makes it much more usable for most people.anukari-music wrote: Thu May 01, 2025 4:32 pm To all those folks who have reported issues with M3/M4 macs, first of all thank you for trying it out and reporting back on how it is working. Latest version can always be downloaded here: https://anukari.com/try-for-free
(Big thanks to folks who emailed me dev logs and helped diagnose!)

Just downloaded and tried the new version. I'm happy to report that at a buffer size of 512, I don't encounter any scratchiness in the presets. But at my preferred buffer size of 128, I still encounter them in such presets as Mallet: Membrane Large, Slide Whistle; Strings: Metallic Alien Cello, Derelict Violin; and Pad: Desert Calm.
If a buffer size of 512 is what's required to use this software, I have to give that some thought if I want to use it in conjunction with other music plugins. Will this create syncing problems? Don't know yet. (I ran into some the first time around, before you updated the software.) Then again, the unique sound of Anukari may be such that few other sounds can meaningfully be used alongside it in a composition. So if I just use Anukari as a solo instrument in a single-track composition, there should be no problem.
Again, I applaud the creation of this remarkable, new way of creating sounds! It's just a matter of how well it will play with other kids in the compositional schoolyard, especially if a 512 buffer is required.
Again, for reference, I'm using the latest Logic Pro on an M3 Max MacBook Pro with 64 GB of unified memory and a maximum number of cores, on Sequoia 15.4.1.
Best wishes!

OIC, sorry. I didn't see an obvious way to do this, but to be honest, I didn't RTFM.anukari-music wrote: Thu May 01, 2025 4:22 pmJust to be clear: Anukari does allow you to assign parameters to expose to the DAW for automation. NP, long-term it's my job to make this kind of stuff easily discoverable so that nobody has to RTFM. So it's helpful to hear about which things are less obvious.zerocrossing wrote: Fri May 02, 2025 11:28 pmOIC, sorry. DAW parameter automation is very important and the earlier suggestion to look at how it is done in Omnisphere is definitely the way to go based on my experience. Omnisphere patches can have literally thousands of possible parameters so it is not practical or even possible to just make them all available for automation. Spectrasonics solved this brilliantly. All you need to do is right click on any parameter and then just select "Enable DAW automation" and you are good to go. This allows anyone to customize just what they need and not have to troll through a list of things they don't care about.
