That's great! I have most of my sample sets in .sfz format which has been the easiest way for me to move them between various sample formats (mostly using ConvertWithMoss).

This could be a big boost for the format.

I’m still in Kontakt/Live’s Simpler/Sampler worlds. With that said, I’m not using multi samples much at all right now. Thinking about it, I’m really curious seeing the workflow now.

I'm also happy with my current Elektron boxes. And I'm also less interested in a sample based box.

However, the Tonwerk does stuff none of my existing Elektron machines do. You mentioned that it is lacking features that other samplers have. That's actually part of the draw for me. I'd probably make use of timestretching, but would be fine without it. I have no need for slicing or granular. A full featured sampler isn't something I'm looking for in hardware.

I like the relative simplicity of the sampling in Tonwerk. Combine that with the FX and all the routing and sequencing of the routing and FX and it is different than anything else I have. I want to learn more about moving samples from the computer, how the internal memory and the SD card relate and digest the concept a bit more.

I've been planning to migrate my Digitone 1 to a Digitone 2... at some point. But the Tonwerk gives me the idea of sticking with DT1 and adding the Tonwerk. Tonwerk has tons of polyphony and enough tracks.

That's such a good point. If it had 3 pairs of inputs it'd be an absolute INSTANT purchase.

Heck, if Elektron makes a purely FX box, with the basic Elektron sequencer and workflow, I'd buy it.

I should be happy with my current Elektron boxes but GAS always hits me hard with this company. I only have an analogue 4 mk1 and octatrack mk1.. and yes, they've hooked me. For sampling I still have the MPC Live original which I've been using quite a lot recently. It's so powerful as a pure sampler now that it's got a proper synth engine behind it with a good modulation matrix. Too bad the CPU is so old that it quickly runs out of steam.

I'll probably end up getting a Tonwerk anyway. But not anytime soon. I'm in the middle of projects and don't have time right now for new gear.

My Reliq finally arrived (pre-ordered back when it was first announced) and I haven't even unboxed it yet. So the time slot for the Tonwerk is about 6 months out.

Have anyone heard anything about Overbridge and the Tonverk? I was pleasantly surprised to see nothing was mentioned on the product page.

There are absolutely NO infos around on this. JUST plain speculations.

some folks put their math so together that they say: OB won´t even be possible due to track count and routing ooptions, etc. . I see it differently. Some folks expect OB to come anyway.

Hopefully OB is either being phased out or taken to new more stable technical level. I use OB and have no real beef with the technology by itself, just that I feel it's been a hell of a drain for Elektron to keep it working. But if there have been no word on it, I wouldn't count on it. I think both Digitakt II and Digitone 2 shipped without OB, but they clearly announced support was coming.

Well... we'll see what happens.

How does a boom bap type track work on this bad boy? Pretty easy to chop and lay down a sample?
