I turned down transparency on my phone but have added it back again.

Liquid Glass looks so shiny and clear it makes me want to lick my phone. Oh yeah.

Won’t update on the Mac for a few months.

I don't literally hate all the help in the OS. Notes autofills like it knows certain phrases, at least on the Sequoia machine. albeit it is no expert on syntax.

I think I fit the stereotype old and set in my ways.

I am, as well. I,ve never turned SIRI on, and never intend to.
I have enough ‘dependencies.' I don't want anymore.

I usually give it a few months to a year to update MacOs but I did update my iPhone to see what this Liquid Glass thing looks like and it’s awful. It makes everything look like a cheap plastic toy, and it also on iOS makes the keyboard much more cramped and the url/search bar in Safari no longer shows my open tabs as they have reduced the size to make way for the gimmicky graphics

You can adjust the width of the bar back to how it was in settings.

Make that change and the new Safari is better IMO, more full-screeny.

Rogue Amoeba have detailed two issues with Tahoe which must be fixed from Apple’s end. The first involves playing audio through two different output devices with different sample rates. So, say, you’d have your DAW host set to output 96kHz to an external device, and the main OS to 48kHz internal Apple audio. It will result in silence on the 2nd device. Only work around, right now, is to set the two devices to the same rate.

The other is if you use different devices for input and output. This stops apps (like loopback) from being able to capture the audio from things like Facetime.

Damn, RIP firewire. I've already setup my FF800 as a slave on my UFX, using Streamdeck for mic input phantom power. 36 samples of extra latency to account for. I use AES/EBU for the two extra channels of I/O. Works fine.

Need to find a new interface for my girl, she's still on FF400. Now that's an unnecessary expense thanks to apple

AFAIK Apple have still made no official announcement about Firewire support in Tahoe, and a kext (to support it) is apparently still in the installer. But it hasn’t worked since the earliest Tahoe beta. Someone who complained about it, at the time, had their support ticket closed with the note “Working as expected.” Which implies it’s intentional rather than a bug.

I’m not sure why they wouldn’t just say it though..

I like your first response back a bit better, you're blowing a minor disagreement about who was rude to whom first into something it isn't. We're just people talking on the internet, I found it rude that you thought I would not know whether I had a USB port on a physical hardware device I own, and then I went online to loudly complain about it. It wasn't your intention I guess to be rude, but it certainly seemed like it, this is why this forum gets blown up all the time though. I personally will not take any of this seriously, and continue to value your input when I read it.

There is a silver lining here, I'm not entirely sure that RME needs the firewire support to be at the OS level? Firewire is a part of the USB4/Thunderbolt spec, so the actual hardware is capable, and since RME write their own drivers, it's always possible they keep them up to date for firewire support. Thing is they almost didn't write driver support for their firewire devices with Apple Silicon in general until people mentioned that it was in the thunderbolt spec. So it might in the case of RME anyway be up to the company whether they can. Plus PAK is saying here that the kext is there in the installer.

So it could be that class compliance is deprecated, dunno? but I do know that I'm done with being an early adopter for things that usually don't offer much like OS updates. The only thing that would make me think about it is if you could use the touch screen 100% on an iPad when it's being used as a monitor.

seems you've gotten a reply:

The FF does work with Thunderbolt adapters, but even that no longer works now. You can keep using it with Sequoia, noone's forcing you to update.
