I can see AI-generated music having an impact on the earning potential of professional music producers (assuming they don't themselves use AI to generate music) but how will it affect DAW development? Aren't most DAW users hobbyists? Will none of the former professionals continue to make music?musicartist99 wrote: Tue Mar 03, 2026 8:45 pm ...too bad the generative AI music trend will almost certainly slow down if not end the DAW development
What's the step between "AI generates music" and "DAW development ends"?
Surely there must be consensus by now...

A possibility would be that the hobbyists would prefer the fast gratification generative AI provides as opposed to the hours and hours necessary to create a similar track in a DAW, so there would be less clients for DAW companies, which would lead to less DAW development

If Microsoft and Apple continue trying to shove AI down our throats with useless and even dangerous "features", then professionals will go back to full hardware setups which would leave DAWs exclusively to a fast shrinking group of hobbyists who want to do more than just prompting.
