If you are interested in Reason's sound quality just download the demo and decide for yourself (20 min. and no saving). Try it and see if you like it.
If you go to the reason forum your going to find lots of fans. Here you're going to find defenders and attackers... and some in the middle. I don't think you should pay too much attention to any of us. Try it, and make up your own mind.

my oppinion is that reasons machines, by themselves, sound great, no problems. The "soundquality" is rather an issue created by the native reason mixer (and the effects applied) According to my ears, when using the mixer in reason the sound gets "blurry" the more channels you add, fill all 16 channels and the mix ends up in, well let´s call it a "thin smudged mess"...
Mixing through rewire (cubase or some other rewirehost) will make things sound much better, you are no longer limited to reason's effects, you also use any VST effects on the output from reasons machines. Try it for yourself...
