Post

the biggest flaw of the djxII (especially of the keyboard-version) is that it doesn't send midi-data :?

Ah, one of them... right...

b.t.w.: the DJX actually has nothing to do with that new Behringer thingamajig - you can't compare the two... ;-)

hadnt actually looked to far at the behringer but...
two big hunks of plastic designed with djs in mind :?
its called a different and probably more sturdy option :P
as i can in fact load my own loops into it(and actually the keyboard does send midi  )and then use the cd to actually jumble my own loops into the scratching and such.

and yeah wabbyt it aint great but it does have some useful bits not many i admit but gets kieran involved too(he likes the scratchin)

the Behringer is more of a fx-unit...

I've never bought the DJXII but only because I've read in a review (it was SOS I think) that it does not send midi - and now you're telling me it does?

b.t.w.: I own the original DJX and love it to death :-D

yes, but the midi-out seems to be in fact a midi-trough with the DJXII - according to the review it doesn't send midi-controller data which has been generated by usage of itself... :?

only because it was the II in your posts ;-)

No, ladies and gentlemen, the Yamaha DJX II keyboard, for all its bells and whistles, cannot transmit MIDI note messages. Yes, you read that correctly: you may have spent 300 quid on the thing, but despite having a MIDI Out socket, all it can spit out of it are some rather pointless MIDI data dump commands. If you attach this keyboard to a sound module or any other MIDI device it will happily tell them how fast it is playing (it does at least stretch to sending MIDI Clock messages) but that's about all. So forget any notion you may have had about seriously integrating the DJX II into your MIDI or live setup -- a spot the beloved DJX MkI occupies for so many -- because the MIDI implementation chart at the back of the manual is so peppered with Xs -- ie. No Can Dos -- that MIDI-wise, even my toaster would give it a run for its money.

thats a bit shitty with the djxII if they say it has midi send it should have midi send, its not like yamaha dont know what it means?

and yeah i know my link started the II it but only cos i cant find the originals(both of which mine are not the II versions)but again the important point is its just something for quince to think about if hes goin in this funny direction of his :hihi:
