Is there supposed to be some clever sort of irony in using the name BONES as a pseudonym?

BONES quoth
Especially when you consider that in the 8 months or so that I have owned them they have spent a grand total of about 15 minutes out of their box.

Thats more money than I spend on clothes in a year.

Crush, crush, crush.

Much the same pattern of use that I am sure many commercial plugins get from the likes of you around here.

You can be 'sure' all you like. But we all know you have to say something like that to make some sort of attempt to direct attention away from what is actually fairly blatant hypcrisy at the end of the day.

15 minutes is what your Killerz got before they were dumped as useless. OTOH, Im still regularly using commercial synths I got two years ago. Its about depth, not whether or not money passes hands.

Mind you, if you read the bullshit marketing hype in the little booklet that came with them you would no doubt feel that Oakley were saving you from going blind and should charge double. Most of the time I wear the $10 knock-offs I got from Hong Kong.

You mean you regularly wear ones that look like them? Dear god, the humanity...

There current album, WWIII is as good as anything they have ever done. It is right up there with Angst and Nihil. If you like those albums I'm sure you will like the current one
mmm actually I didn't like WWIII a lot...my favourite KMFDM album is those with the symbols as title.
anyway of course I'll give the forthcoming one a listen, they deserve it.

Perhaps hypocritical - but I don't think he was directing attention away from it at all. I think he made a self-deprecating link between him spending all that money on strange fashion that he never wears and people who keep buying commercial synths and getting no use out of them.

He was freely associating himself with a practice he openly and infamously criticises in these forums. I don't sense the shying away from or hiding that you seem to indicate. If he were trying to do so it would have been a spectacularly bad attempt.

Im voting for 'spectacularly bad attempt'.

In the States, when we buy something like $350 sun glasses, we call it a "tax write-off" :D

Who the f**k cares?

As far as BONES vs commercial VSTi's - I'd say he has made his point, based solely on the fact that he just shared a stage with one of the industry's most regarded innovators (KMFDM) using what? Some SynthEdit creations and that Orion Platinum thing?

You goofy shits should sit the f**k down and take notes.

:help:

okay, at this stage I'm gonna have to appear stupid and ask 'who the hell are KMFDM??'

I thought it was funny about the glasses too....

....but I think it's cool that he's on stage, doing shows with a big name in his genre...

and the glasses add that extra bit of weirdness.

congrats bones!

We call it 'and that cheap bastard never gets a round in'

Who the f**k cares?

Why so aggressive? Its funny.

Only if his point was 'it can be done'. Ive never disputed that, nor has anyone else I can think of. Unfortunately the point actually appears to be 'it should be done'

By the way, which 'industry' are we talking about? And how exactly are they 'most regarded' and 'innovative'. For the record...

You goofy shits should sit the f**k down and take notes.

Umm, okay. $350 shades good, $20 synths bad. Now, what was the lesson again? Its okay to be superio about not spending lots of money on stuff except when you want to spend lots of money on stuff.

Okay, I got it teach. I'll forego the shades, though, and go for the stuff I actually value.

Just because the majority of sad f**ks are too piss-weak to use there real names, don't assume it applies to everyone. I was born Warren Raymond BONES. It would never occur to me to use anything other than my name.
topaz, no-one in my family will see that shirt, although they may see photos of it if they bother to look. [But would you bother to look up your uncle on the 'net?]
CypherOne, KMFDM have been around for 20 years and released 15 albums. They were about the first band to put heavy-metal guitars to a techno beat with any success. They have worked with just about everyone in the scene from Nina Hagen to Ogre.
As for the glasses, I bought them for one purpose - to wear when I go on stage. I only wear them for one or two songs because eye contact with the audience is really important but the impact that they clearly have [even in photos] makes them a bargain. The money I paid for them represents 3 or 4 years worth of clothes for me and you can believe me when I tell you that I would go for a pair of freeware sunnies if they had the same impact. As I said, the sunnies I wear every day cost either $5 or $10 but people are used to seeing me in them.

Sorry: his industry. "Industrial", they rank up there with Front 242 and FLA, Skinny Puppy, etc.

I just find it strange how people can be so supportive; encourage each other to find success - yet when when someone does find success; it would seem those same people suddenly turn a cold shoulder.

That's not the KVR that I found 2 years ago. That's for sure.
