To illustrate the thread subject line, I was going to photoshop Reason and Recycle boxes onto the characters in this pic...

... but just couldn't bring myself to deface (or re-face?) Milk and Cheese. :-D Y'all get the idea, I hope.

Not only ugly, but unusable, if you ask me. It's too bad they didn't just make a nicer looking default Combinator, so people wouldn't be as tempted to load up any old jpg as a skin. Or even better, they could have just left skinning out altogether.

There's a template you could use to make reasonably decent templates. I do think the above screen is ass though.

those were the first jpgs i found on my hdd...they are still nicer looking than your sig though...

See what I mean? Don't take it personal though, flex42. I know you could make a decent Combi skin if you wanted to. I just don't like the whole idea of skinning for Reason, and your picture is a prime example showing why.

What I'm hoping is that commercial Refill makers will make some nice ones that fit the Combi and give it personality. And of course that there aren't too many ass-looking screens all over the web of people who threw in the first jpeg they found on their HDD. No offense flex42

I suspect the primary purpose of Combi skinning is to let refill vendors personalize their products. (Take a look at Sonic Reality's latest to see what I mean.) We consumers get skinning ability too, by fiat -- if the Props hadn't laid it on, I suspect someone would've figured out how to do it. ;-)

And braj, don't let it bother you. It's easy enough to make bad sounds (using any synth, not just those in Reason!) so why not allow the freedom to be graphically tacky too? :-D
