1 more reason I don't like Gibson

see the thing is I'm not really saying I like strats...the exact opposite is the truth....strats like me...
That may sound like a joke but I buy guitars that call out too me...I know in a minute of playing it if I like it. All that matters is the action, I can customize any other things I want. I even once moved the volume control on a tele up to the strings like a strat...cosmetics, brand, who else plays it has no bearing on me.
I bought my ESP, came home, warmed up the soldering the second day I had it and replaced one pick-up and rewired it funky. I put an EMG 81 in the bridge and kept the stock duncan in the neck. But an 81 is low impedance so I wired to volume pots instead of one volume one tone. For the 81 I used a 25k pot and for the duncan I used a 500k pot. Then I put the switch between the jack and the pots (now I can do that randy thing shutting off one pick-up, however I never will). It's a disease you know, I can't leave a guitar alone...

I have a '97 mexistrat, and even though its an ugly color, and the pickups need changing, I have never played a guitar that has a lower and buzz free action as mine. I just have to think about hitting a note practicly. I have considered swapping the neck and bridge pickups for humbuckers, but I am not sure which ones to get- anyone have some ideas?

I believe you when you ay you like your Mexican strat, I have found some great ones. Really what matters most is how you set it up. Too me often pick-ups are trashed right away. I have bought guitars that have crappy electronics but felt good. Like I say I can replace anything I need to. Even fret jobs, but I doubt I'll ever do another fret job. Around here a luthier will charge you about 7 bux a fret (that's what it was at one store I worked at) it's worth it to avoid the headaches. Leveling the frets is a pain. Even worse with a floyd rose...S_A_P® wrote:I have a '97 mexistrat, and even though its an ugly color, and the pickups need changing, I have never played a guitar that has a lower and buzz free action as mine. yeah, I have jacked with the pickups quite a bit, and they are still abit too twangy. I wouldnt have gotten this strat, but ended up getting it in a trade.hink wrote:I believe you when you ay you like your Mexican strat, I have found some great ones.
