I'm really trying to like it...well, in fact I really do...apart from the MIDI side of things, which is a shame 'cause that makes it unuseable in the end for me. I like having the MIDI editor in a separate window etc....and I guess that's not what Tracktion is about. I'll stick with Sonar for now - but I'm going to try and get to grips with MIDI side of things - maybe it takes time.

You're right BOMES T2 is utter shite. No need for you to ever visit the RMS forum..

Maybe for you...

I get along just fine with the MIDI editing. The old version was useable, and this version is much better.

I think the reason some people have trouble with Tracktion, is the simple fact that it's way of working is different from whatever sequencer they might have had experience with in the past. I don't want all the world's software to have the exact same interface. What are the odds of any sort of useful innovation springing up from that sort of mentality?

I personally don't understand the interface of Live, but I admit that I haven't played with it very much. I certainly don't get on forums and bash it. I certainly don't call it "unuseable", simply because I don't understand it. It's obviously useable to a great many people other than myself!

Oh, and cheer the hell up! :D

HI

Come on; even a magazine reviewer will spend a week with a host - getting to know it before he/she gives a full-on opinion - even though he/she might never use it again.

I have some initial impressions but I am going to spend the next few days with a couple of synths and get down to lots of midi work and see if it's workable - I have already noticed that you can open up the midi view with a click on an icon to the top right, who knows 1 click zoom in might be a miraculous enhancement?

It looks similar. Though I don't need theINTEGRATED MACKIE CONTROL UNIVERSAL AND C4 SUPPORT,the REWIRE 2.0 SUPPORT,or the QUICKTIME SUPPORT. I like the EXTERNAL SYNC, but Ive yet been able to get my external MD recorder to happen, whith other programs. An easier way, if one happens to have an external multitrack CD burner, could be by simply placing the CD in the computer. The AUXILIARY SEND AND RETURN FUNCTIONALITY is good, and as well the LOOP RECORDING. Some of the included plug-in bundle look interesting, though, the extra internal compression tools Im not sure. My thoughts, so far, are maybe they are overdoing it a bit, instead of just updating or upgrading T1.

Why? I assume form the wording of your post that you're not currently a Traktion user so haven't you got better things to do with your time? I wouldn't even have looked at the page except that I'm stuck at work at 10pm on a Friday night waitng for renders.

d'oh! here I go again agreeing with you. I don't use Tracktion, I'm happy with my current set up. I'm only posting here cos I'm being laid off and don't have any work to do.

"Laid off" - how cool would it be if that was a cross between laid and jerked off?

I thought your job was posting at kvr.

Why? why try out software & see whether it's suitable/whether it's workflow suits him? Yeah why bother checking out new synths & effects as well, why bother making music at all. Tell you what instead of trying stuff out why don't we all just take your overopinionated opinion on eveything as gospel & all worship at the altar of orion (I tried orion & it didn't suit me personally - though i'm sure it suits others just fine - so i'm not knocking it & spent some time with it). If it was orion he was going to try out for a few days i presume that would be a 'better thing to do with his time' in your overinflated opinion?

they just added some silly buttons.. CM will probably call it genius
 bad day for you ?

Stop posting a message every minute...
Spend several hours with T2....
Write music with it and come back with interesting comments...

I don't need several hours (owning Tracktion 1) to find out that the midi editing is still bad and the UI -although very practical (did I ever say it wasn't practical?) it still looks toyish. I also mentioned that the low cpu usage is great and I will now add that the plugins are good and it sounds good too.
