System of a Down on SNL

In defense of my bashing of SOAD, I didn't even know it was them and only kept watching because of how ridiculously bad the performance, sound, as well as appearance of the band was (especially for S&L who usually goes for lighter more attractive acts), after having found out who it was on this thread I was appalled that this was an actual band who I've heard of. Let's face it, no one in their right mind who saw that thought it was a good performance, and you can't rag on S&L for that, because they generally have good sound (unlike let's say Conan, who consistently has terrible sound). In fact the only other time I've ever seen a band I didn't recognize performing that badly on TV was the Ravonettes on their last Conan appearance where no one could play, and again I hung around till the end of their set to find out who it was just out of "let me make a point of never checking these people out as they can't even play simple lines on their instruments." I'm sorry fan or not, a bad performance is a bad performance, and I've said that about bands I do like after bad shows, and about bands I've been in. Being someone who's played live, I can say it's f**king embarrasing to be there, and to pull off that bad a set in front of a national audience like that is just inexcuseable. Pop stars lip synching is one thing, I can almost forgive that as they're the professional wrestlers of the music industry, but for a real band to be that bad on every level...come on now. Also mind you I only caught the first song, the second could have been great.
And since when do we always have to be positive, and negativity accomplishes nothing? If you think everything you do and the world around you is just wonderful and don't want to criticize anything, good for you. You must live in a wonderful and happy but boring world. Me I'll bask in a world that allows for negativity, even when it's about my own shit.
Also why would anyone be so f**king insecure about the music they like to even care what others thought about it? Most people here probably haven't even heard of most of the bands I like, and probably wouldn't like them either. I don't give a shit either way. But if they're ever on TV sucking as bad as System Of A Down just was, feel free to come on here and bash, I'll be right there with you.

I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

Dude... I never said that I don't criticise anything.. but is there any point criticising something in public when its blatantly down to personal opinion???
Why would anyone be so f**king insecure about the music they don't like to even think others might care about their opinion.

System of a Down's First album was some of the best music ever made IMO. That and some Korn (along with some mellow piano/acoustic songs) is the only non-electronic music I can really listen to. Never liked the rest of their albums, though. I definately don't like their new stuff.
However, I agree with sickle. You said f**k on TV? GOOD FOR YOU. As if it's never been done before...

So to recap, this thread hates:
SOAD (I will agree that they suck here)
Ja Rule(He sucks worse than SOAD)
people who make fun of mental handicaps(LBN seems like a nice enough guy, plus hes a fellow texan)
Threads that hate things(dripping with irony)
Tv(yeah it pretty much sucks)
FCC(eh, I dont mind them censoring free TV, I know what they are trying to say anyway)
SNL(there are a few rare gems now and again, but yeah it pretty much sucks now)
so in conclusion, if you think SOAD sucks, then you suck for criticising it, but gangster rap sucks even though you shouldnt criticise SOAD. the FCC got one pulled over on them, and you shouldnt make fun of handicaps.
My 2 cents- SOAD sucks bad, Ja Rule sucks worse.

I love the way he sings. He's the only male singer I like. I think it's awesome how he'll throw in a measure of female opera style singing just for a measure or 2 and then go right back to regular. I normally hate screamy metal, but the way he screams is awesome.
He's like Diamanda Galas except male and not annoying.

He is definately the strangest singer i ever seen on this new stuff. If he could actually sing opera it might be cool ...but...he can't sing Live Period ...even the Guitarist has a better voice.
