My local guitar technician has just phoned me, he's found/solved the problem, it was a pickup fault. He had exactly the same problem I had when fitting the new pickups, but after a bit of digging, it was something as simple as a loose/broken copper wire on the pickup coil, that was causing a 'short'

I'll have it back early next week :D :D :D :D :D

I asked him if he'd ever heard of this make of guitar, he hadn't, so I asked him how much he thought I'd paid for it. He hasn't restrung it yet, so hasn't heard or played it, and just going off build quality, he guessed around £350 upwards. I told him £130 :D he'll be extra gobsmacked when he's restrung it and actually played it

glad you got it sorted apprently I misread your post as I said this in my first response...;)
EDIT: if it were only the one pick-up doing it I would say it's the coilwindings having a short, but just to make sure no matter which pick-up you hook up to that connection point on the switch causes this correct?
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Hi Hink,
I supposedly tried the 'guilty' pick up (bridge) connected to both neck and bridge positions, the pickup itself seemed fine, which is what confused me totally, yet the guitar tech say's it was a fault in the coilwinding :? Either way, whatever the fault was, it was something I would never have figured out myself, and he say's it's now fixed, so all's well.

I got them in several guitars, they sound fantastic live and recorded and are as quiet as you will ever get.
F#cking hell, these pickups are amazingly quiet :D :D :D :D :D
As fat as you want, with that classic single coil sound, but silence as well. I'm totally gobsmacked with these. I had a genuine 60's tele a few years back, and as good as it was, this guitar with these pickups, blows it out of the water.
