I get the feeling you never actually tried Tracktion out? Give it a proper go, it would be quicker than trying to explain.. and don't pay any attention to Jens, he has some sort of personal grudge against Jules or Mackie or something and never misses a chance to vent itKingston wrote:
ummm, and how does not the other sequencers menus appear "right where you need it"?
Quite a big disadvantage in Cubase SX3 !!!!!

There is no way that your anti-Tracktion invective can be considered fair or balanced: if it was I would not still be happily using it on a daily basis.

nope, I haven't - in fact I think it's has got a brlliant concept (that's why I started to use it - for what I hoped it would once become) but unfortunately it imo never left infancy and I think it's overall workflow is piss-poor even if it partially shines. The only grudge I have against Jules and Mackie is that they took a great concept and then threw it in the garbage bin...

and then you also can look in the mirror and see just where you are standing. The fact you feel like that about jens tells us rest quite a lot already.IIRs wrote:and don't pay any attention to Jens, he has some sort of personal grudge against Jules or Mackie or something and never misses a chance to vent it
I like tracktion for what it is, thought I made that clear already. There's simply no need to defend any of it's features against anything.

Sure there is. Grab a mac, watch logic crash and not have features you want. Awesome!

How exactly did they throw it in the garbage bin?jens wrote:IIRs wrote: don't pay any attention to Jens, he has some sort of personal grudge against Jules or Mackie or something and never misses a chance to vent it

They didn't immediately add all the features Lord Jens considered of paramount importance.grymmjack wrote:

More specifically, they didn't include the features *you* prefer or wanted to have. And more specifically *you* threw it in the bin. Or does the world revolve around you?jens wrote:The only grudge I have against Jules and Mackie is that they took a great concept and then threw it in the garbage bin...
I can see that now. Bad jens. Bad!IIRs wrote:They didn't immediately add all the features Lord Jens considered of paramount importance.grymmjack wrote:

Ahh.. I can appreciate that sentiment, but I personally think that even if T3 never came to be (and this is a setup for jens to say something like "it wont") I have and will continue to get my monies worth out of T2. To each their own though.IIRs wrote:They didn't immediately add all the features Lord Jens considered of paramount importance.grymmjack wrote:

Jens: did you buy tracktion v1 or something long ago?

Well, uhm, now "rendering" is the new topic of this thread?
Ok, I'll tell you how to do it in my beloved Logic 5.5.1 PC:
- Solo track.
- Disable all sends (otherwise the reverb blurb and such will get rendered too)
- Set locators so they start very well before any actual sound information passes the track (because unreleased buffers may occur on playback start, especially when using NI stuff).
- Select "bounce and add" (don't you fear, it won't add things to any track in your arrange, gotta do that manually as well).
- Go have a coffee. Or two, in case you're working on something longer. Or 5, in case you're working on some half hour track for a concept album. Consider switching to beers instead of coffee because they might calm you down. This is no offline process! No, realtime rendering for real men!
- Finally, if not too drunken yet, drag track from audio window into arrange. Cut potential buffer blurb from the beginning.
- Repeat all the procedure because all of a sudden you detected that the mentioned buffer release stuff was longer than you actually thought (sometimes hung notes last 10 minutes or forever).
- Proceed doing this for each and every track in case you want to mix things in anything else.
Sometimes you just gotta love Logic/PC...

There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.
