Would you still buy Reaper if it will cost you as much as the other DAWs ?

I think I know why Reaper is full of options and customizations, they want the user to do the dirty work to make something more useful out of a Chinese menu.
Why spend time in creating a user friendly interface simply efficient and effective workflow (because probably they lost the way to it by focusing to add to the kitchen basket. Here! This is the knife,pots and vegetables. Chop it and cook it yourself. BUT I thought a was in a 5 Star restaurant! Nope! $60 it is just a buffet. Just Kidding or... maybe not

Or maybe they're not arrogant enough to think they have the perfect solution for every customer and think their users are intelligent enough to set up the program the way they want. Or not.

This. I think the overall approach Reaper devs have from their marketing and demo strategy to design is pretty much to treat users as responsible adults - it's a commendable approach

I tend to think that some of the others are overpriced. I'm happy with Reaper's price, and I'm not going anywhere.

However, if Props ever pulls the dongle out of their butt, I wouldn't mind a little two-timing.

Yes. And I'd love to have a Honda I've already had all of the others, reaper is a very surprising accident on how I got into it. I'm glad I did.

Yes honestly.

1. Workflow depends 75% on the user and 25% on the DAW - now after good few years away from cubarse i will do things in REAPER much faster.

2. Even if >my< workflow in cubarse was better than in REAPER (from what i remember it was about the same), what good would that be if that pos software crashes so often and gives that stupid line "cubase encountered a problem and needs to close" and corrupts saved projects etc ???

3. For me REAPER is like a customized Land Rover which i can take on a voyage around the world and depend on it to get me back home alive and cubarse is like some old FIAT that would break down in worst possible places few times a day.

Yes i hate one and love the other, yes i am a very experienced PC user (got my first PC about 18 or 19 years ago), so no it was not my fault cubarse was so unstable on my properly configured system.

Whats your point? There are plenty of people having stability issues with Reaper. But as long as we're using anecdotal "evidence"... I've been running Cubase since Cubase 4 on a variety of different computers with different OSs with lots of different VSTs and have almost never (certainly since C6) run into any stability problems.

There's only so far you can customize Reaper though. You can't customize yourself a variaudio, note expression, arranger track, tempo track, etc...
