i didnt update the version of tunefish since 1-2 weeks cause i always fear that it will destroy my project
, so it's very hard to get a submission working like i want but im pretty satisfied so far, might make a different mix later with additional plugs etc. which arent allowed for the competition.

Animation controlling values ...I still have so much to learn. Thanks for clarifying!payne_bc wrote:They should not do anything actuallyH-man wrote: While I'm here, can anyone clarify the function of Mod1 to Mod4 in the Mod matrix? I have used these in some patches but will confess that I am not entirely sure how the work![]()
Tunefish was done for use in our groups computer animations, and those 4 are there so the animation engine can control certain values. In any DAW they're useless.
I was kinda musing at one stage that they could be multipliers for the other mods or even the x & y values (Offset and Value) of the points in the spline OSC.
Must ....not ....feature ....request!

Probably a silly question but should Tunefish work with an old sequencer like Cubase SX (as in SX 1)? Or did has the VST standard changed in the last 7 years?
I took a break from recording while I went back to school. Am currently working on a new recording build (Cubase 7 is on my shelf just waiting for it) and I decided to dust off the old DAW to grab files I wanted to hang onto. I saw this thread and thought I would check out the instrument but when I dropped it into my vsti folder, it isn't showing up in the vsti selection list. Just curious. Love the stuff you guys are coming up with, sounds great!

I can't really tell if it works with your old Cubase. But I am implementing the VST 2.4 standard and I believe that is from around 2006 or so. According to Wikipedia the first Cubase SX came out in 2002. So I suppose it won't workBassMasterK wrote:Probably a silly question but should Tunefish work with an old sequencer like Cubase SX (as in SX 1)? I figured something like that had to be the case. Thanks for the reply and I'll have to check it out when I have my new rig up and running.

I can see that the dev is trying to give us a synth that works well but i still get clicks and pops on every sound i dial in. I hope the people in charge will choose a more stable synth to work with next month. Good luck to everyone who will submit songs

Not specifically because of the bughunt, but mostly because I'm completely swamped with work, I'm pretty sure I won't make it this month to participate. Will vote though
It is great to see a dev being this involved, but I too hope for next month to have a synth that is a bit more ready for production-type composition. Having said that, when I find the time I plan to do some sound design for Tunefish, as I really like it's concept

I still don't understand how you all can have the exact same problems in version 2 and 3 when they are so differently made..

I hope you won't take it the wrong way, guys, but some folks have already uploaded songs for this OSC, so you can make music with Tunefish - when there's a will, there's a way
This OSC may have turned into a Tunefish open beta as well, but IMO it was freakin' awesome to see all this happening before our eyes and having the opportunity to help for a change a dev ironing out the flaws of his products in order to ultimately benefit from it (since Tunefish is free).
On a different note, seeing a dev so dedicated to his product and so helpful and providind fixes around the clock is beyond outstanding in my book - for that alone, payne & Tunefish deserve respect and a bunch of good songs
Kudos

I'm not sure, but could that be the "slop" knob at the top?Caine123 wrote:thanks to all fror the help, another prob i got with a patch, it is played ( i made a row of the same note played to show you the prob) the same note but the pitch sounds sometimes different???

I completely agree with this. The contestants working together with the dev to get to a stable release is pretty awesome in my book. Kudos to both the dev and the users involved.idfpower wrote:This OSC may have turned into a Tunefish open beta as well, but IMO it was freakin' awesome to see all this happening before our eyes and having the opportunity to help for a change a dev ironing out the flaws of his products in order to ultimately benefit from it (since Tunefish is free).

I agree with this also, but..... for some of us it is already hard to fit some studio time into a busy schedule. For me, I need to able to get going pretty early in the month as I have only the weekends and then only like a few hours during those. In the first weeks the instrument has to grab me sound-wise as I always start with patch-design. Because most problems with Tunefish where with the sound controls (not with playability), it simply took too long for me to get to that point where I can faithfully decide to have a track at the end of the month.idfpower wrote:I hope you won't take it the wrong way, guys, but some folks have already uploaded songs for this OSC, so you can make music with Tunefish - when there's a will, there's a way
I'm pretty sure I will come back to Tunefish in the (near) future, but not for this months OSC.

Of course, no explanation neededcrimsonwarlock wrote:I agree with this also, but..... for some of us it is already hard to fit some studio time into a busy schedule.
Just saying that if someone wants to participate, he/she shouldn't let any issue of the chosen synth get to them and just find a way to beat it (that can be fun too, you know)
BTW, your topic about going freeware from a different forum is gold

Of course, and I took it that way. My reply was meant in general as wellidfpower wrote:Of course, no explanation neededcrimsonwarlock wrote:I agree with this also, but..... for some of us it is already hard to fit some studio time into a busy schedule.I wasn't replying specifically to your message either, I was talking in general
Truth is that I would very much have liked to participate this month, as I think Tunefish has some serious potential.
Thanks for the heads-up. You're welcome, happy to help other musicians in any way I canidfpower wrote:BTW, your topic about going freeware from a different forum is goldIt totally changed my perspective on things...and also my setup
Thank you very much

Yes issues overcomeable or just use Tunefish 2, but it seems people just didn't understand that there was a backup synth to use which is a shame as it sounds good and I believe worked fine on most systems..
Lesson learned that anything out of the ordinary routine must be announced more clearly, but also that we really should have in place more testing of synths before launch since things vary so much between systems. We used to have synth voting before in order to get stuff tried out, but still the buggy synths were voted in to prove people didn't test much so was therefore dropped, but that was with 10 synths which was maybe too much to test so how about we try a system with 3 alternative synths to be tested and voted on the week before launch?
