But the overall quality of what TyrellN6 offers is pretty undeniable. They generally all sound very, very nice!

Sometimes I really wished we could just "sort" the tracks with folders for those "on par" and so on. It's such a wide range of them that it so often feels unfair to have some tracks in the same point group, while it would be even more unfair to move any one of them up or down. It's really tough when there are so many tracks, especially when they are very similar...and...uhm...especially when they are so very different, too.
...tough gig!

I agree! I'm currently at a ridiculous amount of 5 points. Still, I have a pretty good idea of which among these I like best.

For that reason I have been especially tough with my grading this month. With only 25 tracks left to score, I have only five 5 pointers so far.Taron wrote:Sometimes I really wished we could just "sort" the tracks with folders for those "on par" and so on. Should be interesting to see who takes this one.

Cool! I've registered for voting!
That's a really nice page, btw!
Lots of nice tracks out there
On another note there are really a lot of entries, but I guess this is to be expected when synths like Tyrell are involved.
I remember when I participated in the early beginnings... there were 15-20 tracks per contest
Let the fun begin!

I'm going again for a "full spectrum" ranking, which may look ugly on the outside, but it allows for a bit more differentiation and should help boost the tracks I really love most.Stollmeister wrote:I agree! I'm also going into the direction for differentiation. I'm thinking of voting somewhere along these lines:Taron wrote:I'm going again for a "full spectrum" ranking, which may look ugly on the outside, but it allows for a bit more differentiation and should help boost the tracks I really love most.Stollmeister wrote:I agree! 1p - I appreciate the effort, but there is room for improvement.
2p - Cool Track.
3p - Catchy. I may listen again sometimes.
4p - I'd include that on my MP3 player list.
5p - Love it - Could listen to it on "repeat"!

Right, this is probably more-or-less my approach with this many tracks, taking into account the sound design and other production factors to move things up or down accordingly, regardless of appeal to me personally.jackoo wrote:1p - I appreciate the effort, but there is room for improvement.

That's a bit rough, because there's almost always "room for improvement", hehehe!
But, yeah...I don't even hold anything to my desire to listen to it again, but if I can truly enjoy it once, it's a 5 in my book.
5p - I truly enjoy listening to it
4p - I respect it for many reasons.
3p - I respect it for some reasons.
2p - I can sense the joy of the creator and/or sincere effort.
1p - I've got nothin'

By your voting philosophies guys I get that the main trouble is from 1 to 2, or from 2 to 1. Easier to choose 4 from 5, but a 2 to 1... that's a jump, hard for me too.
The issue is that we can't motivate the votes with some words, like you do on Amazon reviews.
So everybody takes the values with his/her own
perspective. Also I think it's humanly impossible to avoid the subjective taste while voting. Since "taste" includes the personal experiences of what is wrong or right. And in music what is "wrong" or "right" is totally subjective, related to taste and culture of the listener.
Except an ambiguous basis of natural consonances.
Here we share a good deal of the same culture, but that's all.
My 2C of course. And sorry for the lecturing tone, if any.
Cheers.

Maybe a suggestion for the future: I think it would be really nice if one could add a comment inside the voting page / app.
Ideas come and go fast. Of course it's always possible to go to SC and drop a comment, but doing it while voting would bring more constructive ideas.
Also, another plus would be to be able to continuously play tracks (in the order selected by the votes) and not having to press play again.
Cheers!

Yes, this is a good idea and totally agree... there may or may not be something in the works to help out now that the SC groups have gone by the wayside, just takes a bit of time to get stuff like that implemented...jackoo wrote:Maybe a suggestion for the future: I think it would be really nice if one could add a comment inside the voting page / app.

Not taking part, just love listening many of the entries. Spent ages trying to find CityAndState,Please - Slow Loris from the archive
https://archive.org/details/OSC91Tyrell
until I realized it's there as a song #30 and named just as "OSC Tyrell N6"?

Yes it would be really nice and helpful, but maybe it's asking too much to who already does great jobz.prime wrote:Yes, this is a good idea and totally agree... there may or may not be something in the works to help out now that the SC groups have gone by the wayside, just takes a bit of time to get stuff like that implemented...jackoo wrote:Maybe a suggestion for the future: I think it would be really nice if one could add a comment inside the voting page / app.

managing the OSC. What I would like to see are the critic comments that are almost totally missing from SC.
I mean, if I'm not mistaking, that the comments on SC are positve or missing. For instance I'd love to hear why the listeners
didn't like one of my track. And I don't mean only technical criticism.
But it seems "polite" to write only praises and avoid to write criticism on SC. As if criticims
would always lead to insults or flames.
Ah well I'm wordy today.
