Ok. This is slightly off topic, but since I just checked with Saurus and can’t resize the GUI, I’ll ask: How do you resize the plug-in window for a tone2 synthesizer? Saurus seems fixed in size, amd that’s fine. I just installed Icarus 2, and I can’t find a resize option anywhere, and the GUI is huge on my 15 inch laptop screen. I can turn off the automatic window scale sizing option in Ableton, but then the GUI is barely readable. I get two sizes with Icarus, tiny or huge (and won’t fit my screen)

There is a size button towards the left side, next to the Shop and Random buttons:

That's not Saurus in that photo. The size config is actually in the bottom-right corner of Saurus, in the "CONFIG" tab in the little screen. You only get large and small, with or without keyboard.

Q: Is there - soundwise - anything Saurus does that Icarus can't do?
A: You can make Icarus2 sound analog, but this requires specific programming and knowledge about how analog synths work. Saurus is a lot more easy to program.
The oscillators of both synths work very differently. Icarus uses wavetables, Saurus does model the analog circuits on the lowest possible level with BLIT. As a result, Saurus can do a much more detailed and realistic analog sound.

Q: How do you resize the plug-in window for a tone2 synthesizer?
A: To change the size of Saurus click on 'Config' in the right blue display. Then click on 'GUI big/small'.

Part of his question was how to resize Icarus, that's why I added that screenshot. I went back to edit it and highlighted the text where he asked about it.

Thank you Examigan, Bones, and Markus. I have Icarus and Saurus looking the way they should on my laptop now

Tone2 were my first "professional" plugins (Firebird, Warmverb), free from Beat Magazine. So at some point I wanted to buy one. Unfortunately (but it's due to FL Studio - Wavetable) I decided on the complex Icarus (1). Update to 2 should have been paid. Then I read here that the boring (as I got to know him in version 1 :hihi: ) Saurus gets a free update. Tested the demo extensively for many days and bought it today - although I now have far too many plugins :o .
An absolute top synth that runs clean and CPU lean. And the most important thing (should apply to all plugin developers), top presets that can be used immediately and create new sounds with just a few clicks.
(How trivial the 1st version still sounded;o) - what a development! :tu: )

If you meant Saurus v1 was trivial, its inital release was around 10 years ago and has had many improvements over the years. I liked it right away, even back then. :)

My first paid VSTi was Firebird ... I have most of Tone2's plugins now.

(21 pages;o) Can you reset the arpeggiator in a preset (and add a new arp) or does it only go on and off?
Maybe with an update/upgrade for the Arp a storage option or a lock function?

Are you looking for the "Load Arpeggiator" and "Save Arpeggiator" options under the "File" menu? There are 42 factory Saurus arps available in the "saurus_arps" folder, or you can edit the current arp and save it.
Windows 10 and too many plugins

Like zzz00m wrote, you can load and save arp settings, but you can also clear it out under the File menu using 'Init Arp/Gate'.

Has anyone made custom skins for this?

Already made some tweaks.. the blue was a tad bit bright for me. This thing sounds really good. And I like the layout and real estate/workflow.

Tone2 had a couple of alternate skins (that were included with the Arp soundset) but they aren't 100% compatible with the latest versions. Most of it works OK when I tried them out, but there was part of it that wasn't exactly the same. I forgot which section of the synth it was though.
